In racecar driving, it takes a split second for one’s race to end in a disaster. But on the flip side, it also takes a split second to pull off something which looks barely believable. Christian Eckes, the NASCAR Truck Series driver did just that in the recent Vegas race, and in doing what he did, he had the attention of big names like Mark Martin, Bubba Wallace, and more.

During lap 28 of the race, Eckes suddenly found himself in a pickle of a situation. He got sandwiched between Zane Smith and Ty Majeski, and the situation complicated further as he suddenly got loose.

While a wreck straight into the outside wall seemed imminent, Eckes managed to do the unthinkable. He straightened his truck and avoided what could’ve been a pretty ugly wreck for him and the other trucks on the field.

And even though he finished inside the Top 10, it was his save that had everyone’s attention pointed toward him.

After Christian Eckes pulled off that save, big names from the NASCAR world, including Bubba Wallace and Mark Martin, reacted to it. The 23XI Racing driver put up a clip of the save and added three emojis (💩💩💩) next to it in his Instagram story.

Noah Gragson, the Cup Series rookie, also gave his thumbs up to the save as he liked the video put up by NASCAR. Mark Martin, on the other hand, tweeted, WHAT A SAVE @christianeckes.”

In a post-race interview, Christian Eckes gave a pretty simple explanation of what he tried to do when he got loose and a wreck seemed inevitable. “I just tried to save it. I didn’t really think about that situation, driving in there, three-wide, middle,” Eckes said.

“But I did it anyways and got a little loose. I saw the wall coming a little quick, and we saved it. Luckily, we didn’t have a lot of damage.”

As for his 6th place finish at the checkered flag, Eckes claimed it was “pretty easy” to come through the field. He emphasized he takes pride in himself on restarts. And besides, there was one obvious factor behind his impressive result as well which he admitted to.
