It’s no secret that NASCAR drives have a special relationship with their spotters. They often become even more important than crew chiefs during crucial moments of a race when a decision has to be made. A relationship that starts professionally sometimes turns into a strong bond of friendship. Now it turns out that 23XI Racing star Bubba Wallace owes his friend and spotter a lot of money for something that perhaps he does more than anyone in the Cup Series, cussing.

Wallace has had a fairly successful partnership with spotter Freddie Kraft and the two have become close friends. Last season was the best for the pair as the driver of the #23 made it into the playoffs for the first time and achieved his career-high finish in the NASCAR Cup Series. This season, they will be looking for an even better finish.

Bubba Wallace and Freddie Kraft are both unapologetic and can often be seen pulling each other’s legs on social media. This was the case on Friday when Kraft shared an image on X of something called a NASCAR Winston Cup Spotters Association Card.

Back when the Cup Series was called the Winston Cup Series, the rules mentioned on the card seemed to have been followed by drivers and spotters. The card represented how much a spotter was to be paid and one of the items on it was “Verbal Abuse by Drivers.” The amount mentioned was $500 and the Door Bumper Clear co-host did not shy away from asking for his payment from Bubba Wallace.

Taking to Twitter, Kraft wrote, “Hey @BubbaWallace you owe me $500 x 14 years worth of races. I accept cash, check, and all major credit cards.” The 23XI star is yet to respond to his spotter’s claim. But given their relationship, he will surely come up with something witty for him.

Apart from being known as the spotter for Bubba Wallace, Freddie Kraft is popular for being one of the hosts of the Door Bumper Clear podcast. It is a podcast hosted by Spotters and is one of the favorites of NASCAR fans today. This season, Kraft has confirmed that his driver will be a guest on DBC but his announcement did not have much grace about it.

Taking to X earlier this year, Kraft wanted to know from fans who they wanted to see as guests on the DBC podcast. Bubba Wallace has been a popular name in that regard. The spotter had full knowledge of this and let fans know that the driver of the #23 car was already scheduled to be a guest on the show.

“Putting together a DBC guest list. Who do you guys and gals want to see on the show this year? And don’t say Bubba, I already got his punk a** coming soon,” Kraft tweeted. This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Freddie Kraft and Bubba Wallace light-heartedly slandering each other on social media.

That episode of Door Bumper Clear might be the most listened-to one in the show’s history. Fans have been calling for Bubba Wallace to be on the show for a while now and it would certainly be interesting to hear the kind of conversation he has with him and the other spotters.
