Smoking wrecks are an integral part of the rough sport of NASCAR. Fans eagerly anticipate the collisions and more importantly, the post-race scuffles. However, sometimes, the damage seems baffling and unnecessary. For instance, the crash in Talladega collected four drivers, including Bubba Wallace. It was nothing short of horrifying, as Erik Jones’ back injury had him out of two races.

Bubba Wallace slammed against the wall after making contact with Jones. He offered some colorful expletives over the radio, and his spotter, Freddie Kraft, chimed in. This was part of a long string of similar incidents, soon followed by a Dover crash. However, recently, Kraft posted about an off-NASCAR race with the same energy he would at the No. 23 car’s wrecks.

Kyle Larson & HMS Are Planning to Return to Indy 500 Next Year. But Should They?

Yes! It Is Great for NASCAR

No, It Was a Disaster This Time

Being a co-host of ‘Door Bumper Clear’, Freddie Kraft’s marketing strategy thrives on an unfiltered approach. This bold attitude spills over on social media as well. Driver Landon Cassill wildly suggested that spotters should refrain from informing drivers about their rivals in the vicinity so that aero-blocking is reduced. Bubba Wallace’s spotter had a simple label for him: “What an Idiot.”

Now Kraft is back with his label for a seemingly avoidable incident on a short track. Bobby Timmons III is a veteran of Supermodified racing and recently suffered immense damage to his ride at Star Speedway. He updated the situation on Facebook: “Absolutely unimaginable. A push truck turned hard left in front of the field during pace laps. I t-boned him and destroyed our racecar worse than last week before we even got lined up. I am legitimately crying.”

This wreck echoed other incidents in the NASCAR Cup series. For example, Zane Smith contacted Bubba Wallace in Dover and sent him spinning into two other drivers. Hence Wallace’s spotter, Freddie Kraft, still has wrecks pressurizing him at the back of his head. He could not help labeling the push truck driver: “A former what an idiot award winner unfortunately met another idiot today. Feel really bad for @bobbytimmons13, wrecked race car cause someone wasn’t paying attention.”

After Bubba Wallace’s racing colleague called out the unsuspecting push truck driver, Timmons gave a positive update. He claimed that he is content with the officials’ prompt response: “Star Speedway has been more than gracious and I have recieved plenty of financial compensation for this.”

NASCAR fans would not let them off lightly though, as they seconded Kraft’s sentiments.

ISMA, the International Supermodified Association, is home to Bobby Timmons. Wrecks are a part and parcel of this racing series just like NASCAR. Timmons had crashed earlier like at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway wreck in 2016. But the recent Star Speedway incident was totally unprecedented, happening outside the race.

Hence, fans also expressed disbelief at Timmons’ situation. The video gives a hint about the tremendous impact he faced, and a fan said: “That’s scary AF. What were they thinking????” Another fan quipped: “Wild!!!!”

Bubba Wallace’s spotter accused the truck driver of being careless, but some fans pointed fingers at Timmons. One person questioned why he was speeding in the first place. “I watched this 100 times why is he coming around an ambulance at that angle on a hot track…… wtf brain power does this driver have”.

However, the onus is on both Timmons and the truck driver for being careless. One fan aptly pointed that out: “Did no one see the ambulance on the track?? Seems like it could have been avoided by both parties”.

Hence, Bobby Timmons’ wreck was primarily seen as avoidable, although both parties were compensated post-wreck.
