For a long time, one of the biggest questions in NASCAR was the future of Kyle Busch in the sport. With Mars departing, Busch was left without a sponsor and his Joe Gibbs Racing seat in jeopardy. Soon, after months and months of speculation, he finally inked a deal with Richard Childress Racing. Some wondered if Busch was effectively fired from JGR, which had prompted him to look elsewhere. However, 23XI Racing spotter Freddie Kraft had a different take on the suggestion.
He said, “I feel pretty confident in saying, Joe Gibbs did not fire Kyle Busch. I’m pretty sure, there was a deal to be had there, if Kyle Busch wanted to make one. That’s kind of where I’m at. This just seems like kind of sour grapes after the fact, but it worked out for everybody in the end. Everybody’s got a home, so move on.”

What lies ahead for Kyle Busch in the NASCAR Cup Series?
For the moment, Kyle Busch is simply focusing on wrapping up the 2022 Cup Series campaign. Unfortunately, he was eliminated in the opening round of the Playoffs. So, winning his final Joe Gibbs title is out of the question. Of course, this does not stop him from trying to win a race and going out on a high note. Or, he could try and help teammates Denny Hamlin and Christopher Bell reach the Championship 4, as a going-away gift to them.

When the 2023 season kicks off though, he will start a brand new chapter with Richard Childress Racing. The organization is placing a lot of faith in him, and Kyle Busch will be eager to deliver the goods for his new employers. Until then, he is just happy to compete in his final two races in JGR colors, and then bid adieu to the organization.
