Jeb Burton, Chandler Smith, and the Kaulig Racing team engaged in several heated discussions toward the end of the NASCAR Xfinity Series race. The fact that they were teammates has not stopped Burton from criticizing Smith’s track driving. Having known the tracks up and close, Bubba Wallace‘s spotter Freddie Kraft has something to say.

Team spotters are knowledgeable people. With a critical analysis of the race in mind, spotters have proven their worth over the years. Working closely with NASCAR teams also helps you make connections. Bubba Wallace’s spotter Freddie Kraft is one of the more popular spotters in the industry. Dale Earnhardt Jr‘s initiative in Dirty Mo Media has been fantastic in bringing up stories from the tracks to the people. Kraft has got one such story with him.

Sharing his side of the story, he said, “So what happened was I let Krauss spot one race. I let him do one race, and all the people that have wanted to punch Derek in the face for the last three years probably came out of the woodworks here. And we’re taking swings at Chandler. Listen, this deal has been going on for Martinsville. It started (when) Chandler punted Jeb. Chandler did punt Jeb at Martinsville.”

“Jeb came back. They bounced off each all night at Martinsville after that so it started then they’ve they’ve just been going back forth. There was interviews where they were mentioning each other.” News of some friction has built up slowly around the two definitely.

As fellow spotter T.J. Majors listened to the story closely, Kraft let the story unfold. Burton’s act of letting his fist loose is surely a story for the years to come. As the podcast goes on, more angles on the incident reveal themselves.

Spilling beans on the issue, the 23XI man continues to elaborate further. With the pressure built up since some time, the altercation seems inevitable. The relationship between the two drivers has been tense; after competing at Talladega a month ago, Smith has a saying that Burton wasn’t “the sharpest tool in the shed.” Burton was criticising the outcome of the race, which included time spent under caution and wrecks, which prompted his throw at Chandler.

“Something happened in the last corner that pissed Jeb off. I know I’m sure Chandler probably got this bumper tried to move him off the last corner. The first thing I saw on TV was Jeb kind of running. So, I saw Jeb running Chandler down towards the pit wall down the front straightaway. And I said to Brett, ‘This isn’t going to end well’.”

Certainly, it was a chaotic description of the scene. With passion and adrenaline dripping through the sleeves, on went Burton, seething in anger. Further, Kraft talks about the bad omens emanating from the buildup to the incident.

“I dont know who is gonna end up on the bad side. But if somebody’s coming out of your bed, and then Chandler launched him into one, and Jeb made an unbelievable save. I don’t know how he’s saying that. Unfortunately for him, it came out in front of Chandler again. And he probably should have just let him go and done what Chandler did to him — to hit the three or four whatever that corner is. But when I saw them nose the tail lined up for that right-hander, I said, ‘Yeah, this is… He’s gonna ship him right here sure enough’. “

Burton has gone on to defend his display of violence as he claims that Chandler definitely ‘felt it’. Just another instance of NASCAR producing a nail-biting rivalry, which it always manages to deliver.
