If Freddie Kraft, the spotter of Bubba Wallace is to be believed, Rick Hendrick’s team could be in a for a long season full of misery. Here’s the thing, The Academy Awards took place last month but had they been taking place at the end of this month, we could’ve seen a few nominations if not winners from NASCAR considering the level of drama that is happening in the sport regarding penalties.

First, HMS were given mammoth penalties which they appealed, which got modified by the appeals committee, which further led to NASCAR penalizing them again for a different violation.

Drama.

It was on this subject, the random picking by NASCAR, what Hendrick can expect this season and where it might end, that Kraft shared his thoughts on.

Bubba Wallace’s spotter thinks Hendrick Motorsports need to buckle up

Speaking in a recent episode of the Door Bumper Clear podcast, Kraft opened up on the subject of the now changed “label” of NASCAR randomly selecting race cars for testing as Hendrick’s #24 & #48 were recently.

“I think we talked about it here, maybe last year or could’ve been the year before, that it is a random selection. It’s the top five and a random car. They came out last week and said, that’s not the case. It’s upto the race director’s discretion,” the spotter said. “I always felt like it was, we knew it wasn’t, but they always claimed it was random. This year they’ve come out and said, it’s not random any longer. If you see a guy that is lightyears faster than everybody.”

“But you see is this now, NASCAR going, ‘Listen, we took a hundred points, you got them back. We’re gonna nitpick you to death until we get those 100 points back,'” he continued.  “And they got 60 of them from two of them already.”

“This could be a long season.”

After he shared his take on the new stance NASCAR has taken on this subject, Freddie Kraft was asked by Casey Boat whether he thinks HMS will appeal this time around like they did before.

“If I had to guess, I’d say no. I think there is probably some kind of agreement in place there. I don’t know, I don’t wanna say there is any behind the scenes dirty dealings or anything but it’s probably like, ‘We’re gonna give you an L1 penalty, you’re gonna get 60 points, do not appeal this,'” he explained.

“You’re still up 40.”
