Old buddies know each other’s lives inside out – literally! Bubba Wallace and Daniel Suarez have been friends ever since they entered the developmental ranks of NASCAR. Currently, the 23XI Racing and Trackhouse Racing drivers compete with each other in the Cup Series. Besides throwing masterful passes on the racetrack, Wallace also took a moment to throw a funny jab at his friend on social media.

Daniel Suarez always had a penchant for sending fans rolling with laughter. From getting stripped from top to toe for a funny Trackhouse ad campaign to comparing himself with a quadruped furry animal, Suarez has made us laugh. This time he made good use of Wallace’s jab.

Daniel Suarez was lost in translation

Well, the Mexican speedster admittedly has had a hard time adapting to a different language. Although the No. 99 Chevrolet driver speaks English fluently now, he faced challenges in his youth. An example of that popped up during the 2012 NASCAR Hall of Fame 150 at Bowman Gray Stadium. The K&N Pro East Series used to race there, and featured many notable names – Kyle Larson won the pole, while Corey LaJoie led all the way to win. Bubba Wallace finished as runner-up – however, his friend Daniel Suarez encountered an unfortunate situation.

As Bubba Wallace was preparing for the upcoming Busch Light Clash at the Madhouse, he reminded Daniel Suarez of his dilemma. Wallace did not make it obvious though, as he wrote, “Race week. Film review. @Daniel_SuarezG 🫨” Yet Suarez did not hesitate one bit to let the cat out of the bag, and let people know what exactly went wrong that day. His struggle with English stifled his pain: “I remember that one, I hurt my huevos but didn’t know how to say it in English at the time 🤣🤣”. ‘Huevos’ is Spanish for ‘eggs’ and what Suarez is insinuating here is hilariously obvious. Seems like he learned not just racing but a thing or two about protective clothing as well. Yikes.

Bubba Wallace joined the exploding comment section and wrote: “💀💀💀” Yet this is hardly surprising coming from Daniel Suarez. In August 2023, NASCAR posted a picture of the racer and wrote how he is only five points below the playoff cutline. However, Suarez highlighted his hairdo instead – uploading the photo of a llama with the same flaring hairstyle beside him. Then last year during a promotional video for Trackhouse Racing, Suarez did the unthinkable. He turned up in his ‘birthday suit’ at the team office, leaving his colleagues gaping with shock and awe.

Patching up broken bits

There can be no doubt about Daniel Suarez and Bubba Wallace’s bubbling relationship. Besides the funny jabs about hurt “huevos” from the past, a difficult situation also proved this. In July 2019, the two had a little face-off at Pocono Raceway. Wallace apparently spurred a late-race aggression that led to a heated exchange on pit road involving a middle finger flip. It even spilled over into social media. However, the tensions calmed down in a week, and Suarez was seen giving an interview in a jocular mood at Watkins Glen.

Daniel Suarez claimed that Wallace could be aggressive, but that they would iron out their differences no matter what. “We are good friends but sometimes he drives a little bit over his head on the race track, and he’s been in wrecks a couple of times. He’s been a little bit too aggressive with myself or different situations. I don’t get to race him very often, but when I do, he’s a little bit too aggressive, which is OK. I don’t have a problem, but sometimes you can cross the line and you can get mad and things happen.” He added, “We’re friends. We have known each other for a long time. There is always that extra confidence in us, we know that we can fight and we can be good the next day.”
