NASCAR has been changing rapidly. Of course, with the next-gen cars, along with the new TV Broadcasting platform, and so much more, we can’t deny that the sport is looking a little different, and Bubba Wallace is quite concerned about some things.

Change is inevitable, and also important. But not everyone can be happy with the changes coming, and Bubba is no different.

In a recent interview with The Athletic, Wallace revealed what worries him the most about everything new in NASCAR.

What is Bubba Wallace worried about?

The Athletic asked the 23XI Racing driver 12 questions. And one of those questions was what worried him the most, looking at NASCAR five years from now.

Wallace said, “The thing I’m concerned about is if we go like hybrid or fully electric. We’re sitting here now and you’re gonna hear race cars in this (podcast version of the interview), right? That’s cool. We’re at a racetrack.”

He then mentioned FIA’s popular electric venture, Formula E, as he added on.

“Nothing against Formula E drivers and Formula E teams, but I’ve watched plenty on TV and I’ve hit the mute button three times before thinking, ‘Oh yeah. You don’t hear anything.’ It takes away that excitement.”

His stance on electric cars is pretty clear and justified. Although, we don’t know whether on not NASCAR will make that change. Clearly, Bubba wouldn’t be a fan.

The Talladega winner declared, “So I don’t know if (NASCAR would) ever go fully electric. Who knows? But I would not be a fan of that.” Of course, he has his concerns about electric engines. However, all isn’t lost because there are some things he’s pretty thrilled about.

Wallace remains optimistic about some of the changes

NASCAR recently switched its TV broadcasting to NBC. And they will remain with FOX and NBC going forward too. Fortunately, Wallace found the new contract quite exciting. But he is still unsure if it’s for the better or not.

“I’m genuinely excited and curious about the new TV contract and how that’s going to change the game. Could be for the worse, could be for the better. I’m staying right in the middle of the road. Who knows?”
