In a global sport like NASCAR, one would expect inclusivity and diversity to be mainstays. However, NASCAR has been slow to reach those points in its long history. Bubba has performed very well in his short career in NASCAR. While he is yet to grab a major trophy or race win, his talent hasn’t gone unnoticed. Bubba was snapped up by Michael Jordan’s new team, 23XI Racing.
But what has captured the most attention about him has been his support for social causes such as the Black Lives Matter movement. There has been a lot of criticism for it, and Dale Jr doesn’t approve of the critics.
Dale said, “…he’s making his voice heard and he’s saying a lot of powerful things. I’m so grateful for Bubba because without him we might not have that leadership, we might not have that guidance and the opportunity to understand and the opportunity to listen… Everywhere I’ve seen Bubba in the media talking about what’s going on in our country. He’s also had a lot of conversations with others in our industry that I think really helped Bubba and other drivers.
To understand what Bubba is and what his life is really like. I feel so thankful to Bubba for being so strong to be able to carry that load on his own coz he shouldn’t have to. He’s the only black driver in the Cup Series… he carries an incredibly heavy load.”

Bubba came up to Larson and shoved the driver in anger while shouting something. Asked after the race he said, “He (Larson) knows. He knows what he did was wrong. He wanted to question what I was doing, and he never cleared me. I just hate it for our team. Our McDonalds Toyota Camry was super solid – just needed to find a little bit on the short run and get the balance where we needed it. It would have been like Kansas and now the car is junk.”
