Back in June, Bubba Wallace marked a milestone at Nashville Speedway, hitting the track for his 200th start. He kicked off his career under the wing of Richard Petty, a legend with 200 Cup Series wins to his name. Now, with 23XI Racing, spearheaded by Michael Jordan, Wallace seems to be drawing inspiration from both his past and present mentors, as he reflected in a recent Mobil 1 video.

Mobil 1, serving as Wallace’s primary sponsor, has also been a significant booster in his career. Wallace disclosed in the video that the partnership has turbocharged his growth in the racing world, helping him make giant strides in a relatively short time.

In a recent NASCAR video, Bubba Wallace candidly shared his passion for racing, fueled by his love for competition and a drive to prove naysayers wrong. This determination was evident when he defied Kyle Petty’s prediction by advancing to the round of 12, debunking doubts about his playoff longevity.

Yet, Wallace doesn’t turn a deaf ear to the counsel of heavy hitters like Michael Jordan and Richard Petty who have carved out names for themselves in their respective arenas. Despite hailing from different sports worlds, both have steered Bubba Wallace down the same path toward success. In a Mobil 1 video, he highlighted how their sage advice, coupled with the robust support of his partners, Mobil 1 has elevated his career growth.

Reflecting on his journey, Wallace noted, “Having a solid partner like Mobil 1 has expedited the process. My cup career has been a very solid one on the resume as far as people I’ve raced for. Coming from one of the most lethal competitors MJ but also coming from the guy with 200 wins in the cup series. They were just big on you being yourself doing the best that you could. It’s been great racing for MJ, it was a great race for the king and growing that team. It’s all about growth.”

Besides considering how his career has been so far, and 2023 being a fruitful year, it won’t be a long shot to say that he most likely would be aiming to break into the Champion 4 next year.

His journey began at the tender age of nine in 2002, cutting his teeth in Bandolero and Legends car series, and dabbling in local late model events. 2012 marked a pivotal shift as Wallace joined the ranks of Joe Gibbs Racing. He not only completed the K&N East Series season but also dipped his toes in the Nationwide Series, bagging his first JGR win at the Greenville-Pickens Speedway. That same year, he made his Xfinity Series debut with JGR. Wallace’s big break came as a fill-in for the injured Aric Almirola, taking the wheel of No. 43. This stint blossomed into a full-time Cup Series gig with Richard Petty Motorsports in 2017, following Almirola’s departure.

The plot thickened on September 21, 2020, when Michael Jordan and NASCAR stalwart Denny Hamlin unveiled their new team, 23XI Racing, with Wallace as the lead driver in the No. 23 car.
