Sometimes, it is amazing to see how closely-knit the NASCAR community is. Owing to the camaraderie, oftentimes members of the community stick up for each other. Quite recently, a shining example of this cropped up in the wake of a Twitter spat. It all started with a cheeky jab at Hendrick Motorsports from 23XI Racing spotter, Freddie Kraft. Soon after it was announced that HMS’s points will be docked, he wrote on Twitter that his driver, Bubba Wallace, did not get the win, but he did bring in a solid points haul.

This came on the back of the storm surrounding Hendrick Motorsports and its drivers getting fined and points getting docked. Unfortunately, not everyone appreciated the humor in it. It prompted a harsh response from 2x NASCAR Whelen State Champion, Alex Papini. The former driver called Kraft a “Fat waste of c**,” which invited a frenzied retaliation.

Kraft’s salvo included a video clip of one of Papini’s races at the Rockford Speedway. During that race, he spun off and later on, crashed into a rival’s car during a caution period. Kraft delivered the knockout punch by declaring, “What an Idiot.”

What did the spotters for Bubba Wallace and Denny Hamlin say?

Unfortunately, future responses were unavailable, because Papini deleted his Twitter account. However, his words earned the wrath of a fair number of people. Among them was Chris Lambert, the spotter for Denny Hamlin. He was particularly furious and highlighted an incident at the Rockford Speedway. As it happened, Papini crashed into the back of a rival’s car and his car practically climbed on top of the other car.

Lambert wrote on Twitter, “I assume you’ve never lost someone you care about to a racing ACCIDENT…consider yourself very lucky. And even though your comment says more about you than most probably care to get to know, I hope you never know that feeling.

“Well, if knowing that feeling yourself didn’t teach you about compassion for your fellow man, then nothing I can say will. Unfortunately, sometimes, ya just gotta believe that people are who they are, when they show ya. Be better though.”

He later responded to people accusing him of not caring that Papini lost his father in a crash and that he was simply stroking his ego. Lambert angrily bit back that he also lost a loved one and was close to losing another in a race car. He was just unhappy with the fact that the exchange suddenly shifted gears from mildly amusing to lobbing personal attacks.
