Bubba Wallace is a man who wears his heart on his sleeve. The driver of the #23 has often let out his emotions on the track. After one of his best friends, Ryan Blaney won the Cup Series championship, the 23XI man admitted that he was not happy about it as it sent him into depression. However, he revealed that his wife, Amanda Wallace, remained a rock by his side throughout the tough times and got him to a better place.

The 30-year-old driver delivered a fantastic performance in the 2023 season. He made the Cup Series playoffs for the first time and finished 10th in the points standings, which is his career-best finish so far. However, seeing his friend win the Cup Series title did more harm than good and that is something the 23XI Racing driver might not have expected.

Wallace revealed how instead of feeling happy for Ryan Blaney, he was just off. However, the 30-year-old just could not pinpoint what was wrong at the moment. It’s possible that he already felt this way before and one of his best friends achieving that coveted Cup Series victory was just the tipping point.

“You would think your bud winning the championship would bring that joy and excitement back. Sadly it did not. My wife can see that I’m off but I don’t have the what or the why that I’m feeling this way to allow her to help me. To my peeps out there staring at a blank wall, I’m with you. Tomorrow is another day. Another opportunity. Keep after it,” he said as per People.

However, the one person who truly helped Bubba get better was his wife Amanda. The couple will celebrate their first anniversary on New Year’s Eve and after everything they have been through, it will surely be an emotional moment for the two of them.

“I wake up and my wife’s there. She’s like, ‘How are you feeling today?’ And it’s like, one of those days. We keep each other on our toes. We play video games together. So she’s a massive help. And then the next thing you know, clock strikes 5 o’clock and it’s like, ‘How’s it going?’ and I’m good. It just kind of blows over,” Bubba Wallace added.

Bubba Wallace revealed his feeling of helplessness recently in a video which was uploaded by former Cup Series driver and motorsports veteran, Kenny Wallace.

The 30-year-old revealed that there were times he had won races but there was no sense of joy or celebration afterward. Motorsports is an extremely challenging sport, physically and mentally and it can bring a racer to their lowest point. However, it takes a lot of courage to speak out about those moments in public, like Bubba Wallace did and that is commendable.

“I won that race, got home and sat on the couch looking at a blank TV, like damn, we just won a legend car race, you did something right and had fun and doesn’t matter but the season ends and your best friend wins, doesn’t matter, doesn’t matter when it’s going to hit you,” the 23XI Racing man revealed.

Bubba Wallace does seem like he has recovered for the time being and like he said, a lot of it was down to his wife Amanda. He will have some time with her and his family and friends before the grueling Cup Series season begins again next year, so he will be sure to make the most of his time off.
