Chase Elliott of Hendricks Motorsports and Bubba Wallace of 23XI Racing are rivals on the track; that’s no secret. But it turns out that the NASCAR fields aren’t the only place these two phenomenal drivers face off against each other.
Got @chaseelliott to talk up his Georgia Bulldogs in Vols territory.
He says that he and @BubbaWallace had a bet on the outcome of Georgia/Tennessee a few weeks back. Elliott won the bet, but apparently Bubba hasn't delivered on his end of the bargain? pic.twitter.com/22LPTsqIxQ

Like most other drivers, both Chase Elliott and Bubba Wallace love their college football. Both drivers have been following their respective teams for years now and can swear by their team.
After the NASCAR Awards Show in Nashville, the HMS driver was asked “It’s college football season. I think your Dawgs [Georgia Bulldogs] are number one overall. What’s your prognosis on them as we enter playoff time?”
Elliott happily replied, “Yeah, I think they looked really good. When they show up to play, I don’t think anybody has a chance… so yeah, they’ve been super fun to watch and I think they have a good shot ahead.”
He was then asked “You’re in Tennessee territory, you mentioned how the Dawgs are hard to stop. Everybody from around here learnt about them a couple weeks ago, didn’t they?”
Chase answered, “Yeah, for sure. I think Georgia… they’re a little better than they have let. [Did you give Bubba Wallace any grief after that game?] Yeah, we had a bet. Well, you have to ask him about it. Because he didn’t hold up his end of it for sure. You have to ask him why.”
It surely has been a season of the Bulldogs with the team leading the SEC East, while Tennessee trails close behind. Bubba needs to pay up his end of the bet if that story is true!
Chase Elliott had a great night in Nashville
Elliott finished the 2022 season in disappointing fashion, unable to have a proper crack at the Cup Series after a wreck early on with Ross Chastain. Fortunately for him, the season had one more win written in the stars.
Heading into the Awards show, Elliott was among the strongest contenders for the National Motorsports Press Association (NMPA)’s Most Popular Driver award. The fans’ vote-based award had already been grabbed by the 27-year-old in all of the last 4 years.

And as expected, he ended up winning the award for 2022 again. His 5th award in the Cup Series and 7th overall (as he won 2 while racing in the Xfinity Series) rocketed him into an elite list of NASCAR drivers.
Only 4 drivers had won the award in the Cup Series five times or more; Chase became the 5th. The other 4 are Richard Petty, Bobby Allison (both won it 8 times), Dale Earnhardt Jr (15 times), and Bill Elliott (16 times).
