At times, NASCAR can be a bit of a hot-tempered sport. Contact between drivers on the race track is rather common. As ‘Days of Thunder’ so eloquently put it, “Rubbin’ is racing”. A couple of years ago at the Bristol Motor Speedway, there was a massive altercation between Chase Elliott and Kevin Harvick. All of this allowed Kyle Larson to rabbit away, largely unscathed, and win the race, securing his Playoff berth.

Post-race, Harvick and Elliott stuck close to each other, and one could almost see a powder keg ready to blow up. So as Elliott continued down the pit road to reach Parc Ferme, Harvick shadowed him closely. Eventually, the two drivers stopped nose-to-tail on the tarmac, and at that point, everyone knew things were getting spicy.

As an oblivious Kyle Larson performed donuts on the track, Chase Elliott and Kevin Harvick prepared for a confrontation. The #9 and #4 drivers extricated themselves from their respective cars, and the latter stormed up to Chase Elliott. Fortunately, the argument did not go beyond angry words exchanged and some finger-pointing from the 2020 Cup champion.

Admittedly, there was some pushing and shoving between the two, as tempers flared. In the end, NASCAR officials had to step in and separate the two warring drivers. Harvick wasn’t finished though, and tried to get to his rival, but was successfully restrained.

Speaking afterward, the Stewart-Haas Racing veteran declared that he was upset with Elliott’schickensh*t move.

In the end, Harvick was left ruing what could have been, a fine victory. Meanwhile, Kyle Larson enjoyed his spoils and Elliott ended up down in 25th. What made the #4 Stewart-Haas Racing driver so wild was the fact that he was close to a victory. It all began when Harvick barged past Elliott while lapping him. The #9 driver exacted his revenge while trying to get his lap back.

To make matters worse, Harvick could have secured a Playoff berth into the next round, but this cost him.
