During the race, NASCAR’s caution sign came out on the ground with 4 laps to go. However, Chase Briscoe said that it was up there 20 laps ago. Reacting to this, Bubba Wallace’s spotter Freddie Kraft said; “I believe Chase might be exaggerating a little bit (laughs).”
Furthermore, Kraft explained; “So, I have seen a sign fall off that ended up on the curbing off of turning 6. Like it ended up on the rumble strips- no need for a caution. This, when I see a caution come out and I was there. Another spotter told me it had been there for two laps.”
Moreover, he said that he is sure it was not up for 20 laps but maybe for 3 or 4. Talking about how the race turned out well for Briscoe, Kraft said that Chase Briscoe must not think too much about it.
Further, he said; “Briscoe should just be quiet because this worked out fine. I am sure he said this in the moment, but it worked out all well for him. Like he is in the playoffs. Thanks to Custer.”

NASCAR stated that they will be reviewing data as well as the video and going through the video and radio transmissions to verify if Cole Custer deliberately slowed down on the final lap. On the last lap, Chase Briscoe was running at the 12th position while Cole Custer was in the 8th.
However, on the last lap, Custer slowed down on the backstretch of the final lap. Hence, some believed that the fellow Stuart Haas teammate was trying to help Briscoe make it to the cutoff for the next round.
