Remember January 14, 2025? Brexton won the Golden Driller Cup at the Tulsa Shootout 2025. “In a perfect world, I would retire from Cup racing when Brexton is 15… run a year of Truck… and when Brexton turns 16, him and I can split that truck,” Kyle Busch said post-race, reflecting on his desire to drive with his son. But, mother Samantha saw a nearer future, saying, “One minute he‘s [Brexton] my little boy, and now he‘s out racing his dad.” Seeing the dots connect? Everything pointed towards a generational clash waiting to happen in the Busch household.
In a recent interview, Rowdy’s elder brother, Kurt Busch, also revealed a ‘family racing event’ he was going to be a part of. A tweet by Kyle Busch made it official: “For the FIRST TIME EVER, @brextonbusch and I will race head-to-head!🔥 Track Champ vs Rookie • Father vs Son👑 Battle of the Busch’s by @SERVPRO 🍿”. Kyle Busch and his son, Brexton, were set to face off on the dirt at Millbridge Speedway. A two-time NASCAR Cup champion versus a rising star in the making. The stakes? More than just a race.
It was about pride, experience, and a father passing down the lessons of the track. Well, the father had no intentions of taking it easy on his son.

A night to remember for the Busch family
On March 26, 2025, Millbridge Speedway in Salisbury, North Carolina, hosted a unique event: the “Battle of the Buschs,” featuring NASCAR champion Kyle Busch racing against his 9-year-old son, Brexton. This father-son competition attracted significant attention from the racing community.
The event was part of the 600cc Winged Micro Division series at Millbridge Speedway. Both Kyle Busch and Brexton have a history of success at this track, each securing championships in their respective divisions in October 2024. In the lead-up to the race, both competitors exchanged playful criticism. Brexton confidently posted on social media, “Can’t wait to kick my dad’s b—.⚡️” Kyle responded with a lighthearted challenge, stating, “You don’t want the smoke, pal. Hope you’re ready to rip the fence.😤”
During the qualifying round, Kyle managed third, whereas Brexton secured seventh place. Before that, Brexton finished third in his heat while Kyle secured a strong second-place finish. During the race, both Buschs demonstrated exceptional skill and determination. Kyle’s experience was evident as he navigated the track with precision, while Brexton showcased remarkable talent for his age, keeping pace with seasoned drivers. At the end of 20 laps, Kyle Busch crossed the finish line in third place, securing victory over Brexton in their inaugural head-to-head race. Brexton finished a commendable sixth place out of 20 drivers.
Soooo, looks like P3 for @KyleBusch & P6 for @brextonbusch… massive, Busch fam!! Now, should we bring an Olaf hat to Martinsville? 🤭 #BattleOfTheBuschs https://t.co/D0p3YCu6hD
