At the Charlotte Motor Speedway, Chase Briscoe had a decent day in the office, as he finished in a fine 4th place behind Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch, and his own teammate Kevin Harvick. In a recent podcast, NASCAR spotter Brett Griffin spoke about the Stewart-Haas Racing driver. According to him, Briscoe was one of the most improved drivers from last year.

He said, “Chase Briscoe is in the conversation. Last year, he struggled to stay on the lead lap. He struggled to get Top 12, Top 15 finishes. This year, he’s got a win under his belt. He’s had a couple more he’s been in contention to do. I’ll be honest with you, when he started the Coke 600, he was terrible. He was running like 28th, wasn’t a factor. Next thing you know, a lot of guys have crashes and with 15-9 to go he is running down the best race car driver in the world. When he gets there, he chokes, which is unfortunate.”

What else did he say about Chase Briscoe?
According to him, Stewart-Haas Racing is in a tricky position. This is because one driver is retiring and another may be in danger of being pushed out. First and foremost, Kevin Harvick is 46 years old, so he may not have too many years left in him to give to the Cup Series. Aric Almirola is retiring at the end of the season. Fortunately, Briscoe is proving his mettle in 2022, while Cole Custer seems to be doing enough to ensure that his seat is secure.
Without a doubt, a driver of Briscoe’s caliber needs to try and mount a stronger challenge to snatch a maiden Cup Series title. Fortunately for him, there are plenty of races left to assert himself as a title threat, before the Playoffs begin. Once they do, then the real test will kick-off for the #14 Stewart-Haas Racing driver.
