During their podcast, Griffin said, “I think it is a good thing. I think owners finally have a reason to stick around.”

“We lost a lot of owners in this sport over the years. We could go through the whole frickin’ names, the Junior Johnson’s, the Bill Davis’s, the Robert Yates’s, the Wood Brothers, they were going extinct until Ford came in and saved the day.”

“They went from a full-time schedule for what seemed like 55-60 years to a part-time schedule.”

“And then Ford came in and said hey man let us help you, let us partner you with Penske, and let’s get you back on the right foot.”

Adding, “We can’t afford to keep losing owners and expect the sport to thrive. I mean Jeff Burton said, ‘I wanna see race owners get filthy rich over racecars.’ They’re not going to, that’s a fictitious dream, but this is a big step in the economics business model.”

He further adds, “I mean look at Truck Series. How the hell, like man, look how many Trucks did the Truck Series at home at Richmond?”

Others respond saying, maybe 4 or 5. Then Griffin continues by saying, “That tells me that the Truck Series is doing something right from the build-up that I can show up in a Ford to Race. I think their motor program is a good thing.”

“But their purse is a joke. It’s a joke.”

“What you get paid to run 10th in the Truck Series will literally not pay your teams trying to bring on the racetrack.”
