The NASCAR community is yet to come to terms with the harrowing wreck that occurred last week at Charlotte Motor Speedway, between Chase Elliott and Denny Hamlin, when another wreck is grabbing the attention. Within a week’s time, another collision between two Truck Series drivers has surely added to the ongoing outcry in the NASCAR community.

And caught in the wreck was Thor Sports’ Hailie Deegan, whose bad luck streak this season seems never-ending. Although earlier in the season, the No.13 Ford driver had been at the receiving end of criticisms for her antics and wrecking her fellow drivers. However, on Saturday, things looked bleak for the Thor Sport driver.

Hailie Deegan receives an apology for being wrecked at the Toyota 200

With the wreck at Toyota 200 on Saturday, it is the third race of the season in the Craftsman Truck Series where the Thor Sport driver failed to finish a race due to a wreck. The incident on Lap 87, in Turn 3 when Rev Racing’s Nick Sanchez made contact with his bumper with Deegan’s tailgate, before shoving her and plowing to the outside wall. The crash completely damaged the truck, and Deegan managed to limp back to her garage.

Nevertheless, the Rookie of the Year acknowledged his fault and conveyed his apologies to Hailie Deegan. While speaking with FOX’s veteran analyst Bob Pockrass, the driver expressed, “For us, it’s not where I want to run. Kind of disappointed with today. Feel like speed was there, just restarts the skies up. Gotta get better at it I guess. Yeah, speed is there. I just gotta pick and choose my battles on restarts, and just focus on not losing so much.”

To this, the reporter asked, “And obviously, Deegan was a little bit upset, as you see in that incident.”

The Rev Racing driver exclaimed, “Yeah, I mean it’s unfortunate. It’s terrible to tear up a truck and especially her, but just racing hard trying to get momentum. Push her back bumper off two and three, trying to get clear of the two in my inside and just racing so close, hit her. There are no two ways around it. Unfortunately s***s it happened, my apologies.”

However, given the present scenarios in the NASCAR world for the past few days, a mere apology does not suffice for the fact of wrecking others, as fans demand disciplinary action for Nick Sanchez. They even pointed out the fact that the apology was half-hearted.

Even the veteran spotter Brett Griffin took to Twitter and showed his concern for Deegan. He wrote, Glad @HailieDeegan is okay. D***it, I wanna see her catch a break and get into the Xfinity Series.”

While others showed their displeasure about the apology given by Nick Sanchez in the comments. One wrote, “What an apology.”

“It seems to me when a driver gets “Punted” like Hailie did today, that the “Punter” should have at least been sent to the back of the pack. Not a hell of a lot of difference in the Elliott/Hamlin in my eyes!”

Nevertheless, after being inspected by the infield care center, Hailie Deegan was released and deemed to be fit. But with another wreck, the Thor Sport fell to 17th position in the points standings, while Nick Sanchez, who finished the race at 8th, rose to the 12th position. With another bad wreck, it is to be seen what is on hold for Deegan for the next race.
