Carson Hocevar was never going to take part fully in the Truck Series race at Sonoma Raceway. The rising NASCAR sensation suffered an injury that led to a surgery after his wreck at Gateway.
This meant that Hocevar was only fit to run practice, even though he did secure the pole, and he did run some of the initial laps during the race.
But at lap 11, Daniel Suarez, the Cup Series driver for the Trackhouse Racing team, stepped inside Hocevar’s seat as they swapped.

However, the Niece Motorsports driver wasn’t content with just sitting out and looking at the race. He wanted to race, something that was solidified by his tweet late in the event when a red flag was brought out.

However, the Truck Series driver recently clarified why that was the case.

He revealed that he was “more focused” on himself while he was helplessly lying in Michigan. Hocevar described how he let NASCAR and his team’s PR handle the situation.

“They still didn’t know and they were holding information even from me just not to psych me out. I didn’t really wanna know at all, and they’re more so taking it day by day now,” Hocevar added.
