The accolades didn’t end with Buescher’s victory; this triumph was symbolic, a homage to the legacy of racing icon Henry Ford. The Ford racing legacy that began a century ago found a new chapter etched on the hallowed track of Richmond Raceway. Chris Buescher took to his Twitter to post an aspiring and devoting message.
Another thing that’s pretty special about yesterday is we put a @Ford in victory lane on Henry Ford’s birthday. Really cool to continue carrying the Ford name 160 years later 👊🏻

As the checkered flag waved, history was etched into the roots of racing lore. Buescher’s victory also made him the 12th driver to taste success in 2023, leaving only four playoff positions up for grabs. With legends like Kevin Harvick and Keselowski well above the cutoff line in terms of points, the pursuit of the remaining two playoff spots has intensified, as was evident on Sunday. Together, Keselowski and Buescher dominated the track, capturing a staggering 190 out of 400 laps. Buescher’s 88 laps at the helm were a career-best, proving he is a force to be reckoned with on the asphalt. As the laps whizzed by, Buescher expertly navigated the heat that seemed intent on testing the drivers’ limits, creating conditions akin to a relentless hair dryer on full blast. But this Texan daredevil handled it all with aplomb, deftly overtaking competitors and slicing his way into the top five by lap 160. The crowd was treated to a mesmerizing display of perfection as Buescher hunted down Bubba Wallace, Tyler Reddick, Keselowski, and Denny Hamlin.
Pit Road became a battleground for the contenders, with slow tire changes and green flag stop violations altering the course of the race. Wallace, in the #23 Toyota, tasted the lead with 80 laps in his pocket but suffered a setback when a tire change hiccup relegated him to 12th place. Likewise, Reddick, the polesitter and Wallace’s teammate, desperately fought to stay on the lead lap after an unfortunate line violation.
Keselowski, too, encountered a momentary lapse during a green flag pit stop, handing the lead over to Buescher. But even in the face of such challenges, Keselowski maintained his composure and brought home a commendable sixth-place finish while securing a stage win.

The gap between victory and defeat was razor-thin. Buescher triumphed with a mere 0.549s lead, making this victory all the sweeter for the RFK team.
