RFK Racing driver and co-owner, Brad Keselowski, was left distraught after hearing about a brutal shooting that took place in his hometown. According to a report by USA Today, the perpetrator of the incident exited a vehicle and opened fire at people in the Brooklands Plaza Splash Pad in Rochester Hills.

This shooting incident shook Keselowski, and on a personal level as well, since the splash pad held a core memory for the driver from his school days. Reacting to the incident, the veteran driver sent a message of solidarity and safety for his friends and family back home. Also demanding justice for the victims, he wrote, “Growing up, this was my bus stop for school… shocking to read this. Thinking about my family and friends back in Michigan. Hope they get well and receive justice,” he wrote via X.

The report further added that the shooter was later identified as Michael William Nash, 42. Surprisingly, he had no criminal records, according to Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard, and was dealing with mental health issues. After firing 28 rounds in the open, Nash took his own life at a home in Shelby township.

Bouchard also confirmed that detectives and law enforcement agencies are investigating Nash’s motives to go on a shooting spree. They have also confirmed that the shooter had no connections with the victims and was not a resident of Rochester Hills. Police authorities had to use drones to examine the home where Nash died by suicide. “We located the individual deceased in the home.” Bouchard was quoted via USA Today.

Sharing details about the investigation, Bouchard further stated, “I believe that because we had quick containment on him, that if he had planned to do anything else, and it wouldn’t surprise me, because having that on the kitchen table is not an everyday activity, that there was probably something else; a second chapter, potentially.”

However, as far as Keselowski is concerned, the driver will have to shift his focus back to NASCAR racing as he prepares to compete today in the inaugural Cup Series race at Iowa Speedway.
