Brad Keselowski and Team Penske have reached an agreement on a contract extension, ending months of speculation.

Less than a day after Brad Keselowski won the NASCAR Cup Series race at New Hampshire, the development was announced.
Terms of the contract for one of the top free agents going around in the NASCAR Cup Series were not announced yet.

Keselowski, who drives the No. 2 Ford for Team Penske and has been with the team since 2009, said he was glad to stay put and this is what he wanted.

Brad Keselowski aims for Daytona 500 win

“I have been racing for Team Penske for the vast majority of my NASCAR career and to continue to represent Roger Penske, our partners, and his organization is exactly where I want to be,” Keselowski said in a statement provided by Team Penske.

Of Keselowski’s 33 career wins in NASCAR Cup Series, 32 have come with Team Penske. Together they have also won the Cup Series championship in 2012 and the Xfinity Series title in 2010.

Keselowski has not stopped aiming higher with Team Penske and said that winning the Daytona 500 as well as another Championship is now his main goal.

“We’ve accomplished a lot of things together over the year. Including winning both the Cup and Xfinity Championships, the Brickyard 400, the Southern 500 and the Coca-Cola 600.

“Now, my goal is to win the Daytona 500, another championship. And continue to build Team Penske into the best NASCAR team in the garage area,” Keselowski added.

The 36-year-old star driver had maintained earlier that uncertainty over his contract status for the 2021 season did not distract him.

But he admits now that it is certainly better to ‘tick that box off’ and focus solely on winning races. For his bid for the championship will just get stronger once he’s past all this.

It’s good to get it done and not have to worry about next year. It can really wear on you quick, I can tell you that. Really happy to check that box and get that one out of my head so I can just focus on winning races and doing the best I can do on the race track,” said Keselowski, speaking during an Instagram live chat with NASCAR.

Keselowski’s new contract solidifies Team Penske’s line-up

Team Penske’s three-driver line-up for the 2021 season and beyond now looks even stronger. Ryan Blaney had signed a multi-year contract extension back in March. Meanwhile, Joey Logano’s current contract keeps him with Penske until at least the 2023 season.
