The Quaker State 400 at Atlanta was quite an eventful race. And it turned out to be a tricky one for the driver and co-owner of RFK Racing, Brad Keselowski. As he found himself in the lead as the Stage 2 break was approaching, it was the weather calling the shots, and Keselowski and his crew chief Matt McCall were left playing catch-up.
During a recent episode of Door Bumper Clear, Keselowski’s spotter T.J. Majors shed light, but more so he lashed out at his co-host in frustration when asked about his emotions.

Brad Keselowski has been on a two-year winless streak ever since his victory at the Talladega Superspeedway in 2021. And finally, he had a carpe diem moment in the closing laps of Stage 2. The million-dollar question was: To pit or not to pit?

Do they pit him, which may likely drop him down the field, or do they stay out and risk running out of fuel? During the episode, DBC co-host Casey Boat, asked T.J. Majors, “You had a pretty eventful day yesterday. Take us through with that.”
“We weren’t very good in the beginning,” blasted off Majors, cutting right to the chase. “We struggled in the beginning when it was warmer out. The Sun went down. We made a pretty lengthy pitstops and made some adjustments on the car, and the car was really good, so…”
Casey then pointed out, “You have some serious emotion with your responses.”
To which Majors showed some frustration, and said, “Well, I mean, what do you want me to be? Excited? We lost. I don’t know, it was a good race, it was fun driving from the back to the front, and then having to do it again,” said Majors.
“We didn’t get a chance to get all the way back to the front there at the end. But you know that’s the way it felt, it was good to get up there and be competitive and lead laps, and race with them guys.”
Given his position in Stage 2 of the race, Keselowski should have finished better than 6th. And although the lengthy pit stop at the end of Stage 2 ruined any chances he had to win, he was quick to support his crew chief, Matt McCall on his decision.

After Keselowski’s impressive Stage 2 victory, the realization set in that the No. 6 car was running low on fuel. With approaching rain that would halt the race, the clock was ticking for them to make a crucial call. Understanding the weather conditions, Keselowski’s crew chief, McCall, made the difficult choice to bring Keselowski in for a pit stop.
