Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing had a good day in Bristol on Saturday. Both of their playoff drivers finished in the top 10 and advanced to the round of 12 of the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series. Both drivers finished behind Joe Gibbs Racing and Hendrick Motorsports drivers. However, according to Brad Keselowski, RFK racing needed more speed to get past only the JGR Toyotas, not the HMS Chevys.
RFK racing co-owner Brad Keselowski has had a good run in the playoffs so far. He finished in the top 10 in each of the three races so far. In Darlington he finished in sixth place, followed by a P9 finish in Kansas and a P8 finish on Saturday at Bristol. His teammate, Chris Buescher, also had a good round of 16, finishing third and fourth in Darlington and Bristol, respectively.

Ever since Chris Buescher won his first race of the season at Richmond, RFK Racing has been on an upward curve. They carried their momentum into the playoffs as both cars finished in the top 10 together in two of the three races.
In Bristol, Keselowski finished in eighth place. Two Hendrick Motorsports drivers and three Joe Gibbs Racing drivers finished ahead of him. The two HMS men were Chase Elliott (P7) and Kyle Larson (P2). The three JGR drivers were Denny Hamlin (P1), Christopher Bell (P3) and Ty Gibbs (P5).
However, while talking about his race in the post-race interview, the veteran racer seemed to imply that only the JGR Toyotas were faster than the RFK Fords. Keselowski did not even mention Rick Hendrick’s cars, despite two of them finishing ahead of him and one of them finishing in second place.
“Good round for us, three top-10s, leading some laps, winning the stage last week in Kansas. But looking for just a little bit more speed to compete with the Toyotas there. But solid, solid showing for us tonight,” he said.
A reason for him snubbing HMS could be his teammate’s performance. Chris Buescher finished in fourth place ahead of Chase Elliott and was not too much off the pace of Kyle Larson. In Darlington as well, Larson was the only HMS driver who could finish in front of Buescher.
Keselowski was a proud driver and team owner after the race and rightfully so. He had finished in top-10 thrice in three races and his teammate finished in the top-5 twice. Going into the round of 12, the RFK man is oozing confidence and will look to make a big impact.

In the post-race interview at Bristol, a reporter asked Keselowski how he was feeling as both of his cars made it through to the next round.
“It’s good to move into the next round. We certainly are gonna have our work cut out for us. But that’s what this thing is all about. It was a good day for us for both cars. It was a good round of 16 for us. And let the round of 12 begin,” the veteran racer said as per Speedway Digest.
Given their form, it is no surprise that Keselowski is so confident. RFK Racing was not considered being as competitive as they have been. And it is safe to say they have caught everyone by surprise.
