RFK Racing owner and driver Brad Keselowski had a mixed outing in the 2024 season. During the regular season, Keselowski earned his first race win since joining the squad. He failed to achieve the expected success after a poor performance in playoffs and finishing 13th in the championship.
It was a bit of a shocker for both Keselowski and RFK, especially after a strong 2023 season. However, RFK is now focusing on the 2025 season where they will field three charters. Ryan Preece will join Keselowski and Chris as a third driver. Despite upcoming challenges, the RFK Racing co-owner is enjoying his off-season in yet another daring activity. His pre-Christmas family outing reminded fans of Chase Elliott’s 2023 misery, which forced him out of the racetrack.

In his latest social media post, Brad Keselowski shared a picture of him and his kid from skiing. He captioned the picture with a promising message; “Making the most of the offseason.” However, fans were quick to point out how similar activity almost ruined Chase Elliott’s 2023 season.

Before the Las Vegas weekend, the Hendrick Motorsports driver suffered a huge crash while snowboarding in Colorado. He had to undergo a three-hour long surgery to operate his fractured left leg tibia. This incident forced the 2020 NASCAR Cup series champion to miss half a dozen races in the 2023 season. The team felt the impact of this incident when Chase finished 17th in the championship.
It’s worth noting that the top teams of all NASCAR series often prohibit its drivers from any extracurricular activities. However, Elliott vowed to continue to pursue his love for snowboarding. In a candid conversation with ESPN before his comeback race in 2023, he revealed key details of his accident: “I wasn’t out doing anything wild or crazy. I don’t have a cool story to tell. It was just that perfect storm that could happen at any point in time… The accident could have happened tripping down stairs, or on a jog. Snowboarding is something that I’ve been doing for a long time. I am comfortable doing it. It’s one of those things that I’ve used as a training tool over the years — no different than riding bikes.”
Notably, Elliott, the 2020 Cup series champion, is a very experienced snowboarder. He often goes for the same during the off-season or holidays. Despite being an expert, he faced a severe accident which reveals the challenges of these extracurricular activities.
While Keselowski avoided a similar fate, he and RFK are planning to win big come 2025.

The 2025 season is going to be a pivotal one for both Brad Keselowski and RFK Racing. Since joining the squad as co-owner, Keselowski had aimed to field a third charter to improve the squad’s performance. In 2023 team had a relatively better performance but 2024 had mixed results.
On one side, Keselowski earned his first win since 2021 his teammate Chris Buescher also won at Watkins Glen. However, the second half of the season was really poor for RFK Racing as Buescher finished 17th while Keselowski managed to get 13th place finish. With these contrasting performances, RFK will be keen to not let their performance dip with Ryan Preece in the third charter.
Speaking about the same team’s crew chief Scott Graves had said, “Obviously, it’s a big challenge. It’s something to keep that level of performance and not let that third team, that expansion, be something that slows you down, but something that you can build on and keep that momentum and keep our performance going.”

Graves’s statement highlights the challenges posed by the third charter and expectations, which can take a toll on the team. Preece performance with Stewart Haas Racing might also be a concern for the team. He finished his 2024 season in 26th place in the standings with just one top-5 finish. With a lot of expectations from RFK Racing and Keselowski, Preece will need to make the most of the car.
