Who doesn’t love a good amount of discount on their commodities and services? Especially the offers during the Black Friday sale, where the price tags scream savings. While these discounts are legal in every possible way and won’t usher the police, it seems that the recent NASCAR partnership may prove to be illegal for the Cup Series driver Brad Keselowski. This might come as a shock to many racing fans but fret not, the RFK Racing co-owner has not been entangled in something felonious, but just something that NASCAR would not approve.
If one is still unable to decipher the whole subject at hand, well here is a clue: It pertains to Brad Keselowski’s new sponsorship deal with Consumer Cellular. It is time to unearth the facts.

One is accustomed to seeing open-wheel cars and open-decks in Formula 1 cars with only a ‘halo’ securing the top. However, the NASCAR audience is not accustomed to seeing drivers racing in such structures or convertibles, but the 2012 Cup Series champion Brad Keselowski was ready to make an exception with his new car that flaunted the Consumer Cellular livery, had NASCAR not deemed it as illegal.
Consumer Cellular has teamed with RFK Racing’s co-owner as a primary sponsor for the 2024 season. Owing to this, the team built a special edition of the #6 Ford Mustang with almost “half-off” and Keselowski piloting it. In a video posted by Keselowski’s team, the driver was seen driving “a race car that’s almost half-off.”
After coming to a stop and removing the helmet, Keselowski in an elated voice expressed, “We did it. We took almost half-off.” However, the driver’s excitement was short-lived, when a crew member broke out the news, “Hey Brad, NASCAR just called. Turns out this is highly illegal.” To which Keselowski retorted, “Ah! Of course that makes sense.”

Keselowski also reposted the video with the phrase, “Breaking: Fun nascar commercials are back.” Although the extension of the deal was not disclosed, the #6 will flaunt Consumer Cellular livery in multiple races, starting with the race at Phoenix Raceway. The #6 Ford Mustang will also have a similar paint scheme at Kansas Speedway, Nashville Superspeedway, and Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Furthermore, after a fruitful 2023 Cup Series season, the team has added several new sponsors along with the existing ones in the 2024 season. One such is the King’s Hawaiian, which will sponsor Brad Keselowski for nine races. Meanwhile, Consumer Cellular expressed their delight regarding the partnership.

“Brad and RFK Racing have a track record of excellence and for them to count on us to be their communications partner says a lot about where we are as an organization.”

With that being said, it is to be seen if Brad Keselowski and his teammate Chris Buescher can replicate last year’s success in the 2024 Cup Series season as well, and whether a championship is written in their stars.
