In motor racing, there will be occasions where drivers fall afoul of the rules and pick up penalties. NASCAR is no different, but there are some drivers who have squeaky clean records. Apparently, Brad Keselowski is dead last on the list of drivers with the most speeding penalty points.

On the other side of the list, Denny Hamlin and Kyle Larson top the list with four penalties each. Ironically, both of them are vying for the regular season title and, later, the Playoffs.

Hamlin and Larson are not alone, though, as they are tied with five other drivers. They are, Ross Chastain, Daniel Suarez, Corey LaJoie, Anthony Alfredo and Cody Ware.

Brad Keselowski must be thanking his lucky stars

Admittedly, the most important aspect of these penalties is not the number, but when they occur. Poor old Larson can attest to that, as he was primed for a Top-5 finish at Atlanta when he fell afoul.

In the end, that relegated him all the way down in 18th place. Crucially, he ended up five positions behind Hamlin, which would have been costly in the title race.

Hamlin is no saint either, because he also got caught for the same offence at the same race. Coincidentally, he was also running in the top five when the stewards cracked down on him.

On a similar vein, Martin Truex Jr picked up a costly penalty at Road America while chasing race leader Kyle Busch. Aside from Brad Keselowski, Kurt Busch, Erik Jones and Justin Haley have not gotten any speeding penalties.

Out of the quartet, only Keselowski and Busch are in playoff contention. This will definitely bode well for them and they will hope to continue this for the rest of the season.
