The 2022 NASCAR Cup season has not been too kind to Brad Keselowski. The Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing driver has had a rough few races this year. Initially, it was his on-track antics that have earned the wrath of a few rivals. However, a new problem presented itself, namely some car parts that NASCAR deemed non-compliant. As a result, the outfit received a shocking financial penalty and lost a chunk of points.

In light of this, Keselowski spoke about what the main problem was. He said, “[The tail panel] had a key feature that NASCAR deemed was not repaired adequately enough.”

Keselowski added, “It’s a tough situation. We didn’t want to run the tail panel. We didn’t have any new tail panels to put on the car. We had a tail panel with three races on it and we did some repairs to it. We probably could have done a better job on the repair and we put NASCAR in a tough spot.”

This year, the sport has become extremely strict about technical infringements. The policing is largely because of the novelty of the Next Gen cars. NASCAR wanted to make sure that teams could not fiddle around too much with it to gain an unfair advantage.
What else did Brad Keselowski say about the decision?
He continued, “It’s kind of like a trickle-down effect. I wish we had, quite frankly, done a better job repairing it, but we can’t go back on it. I understand NASCAR’s position on it. It’s kind of one of those things where everybody is right and everybody is wrong at the same time. Ultimately, we’ll have to learn to be better for it.”

Despite the championship setback, the driver and the team can bounce back. After all, just a handful of races have taken place, and all he needs to do is grab just one win. This would ensure his qualification into the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs. For now, he and the RFK Racing team have to worry about ensuring that their car is not only fast but also legal.
