Most would say that last Sunday’s race at the Richmond Raceway was not as jaw-dropping as the one at Pocono. The one at Pocono had most of the spectators at the edge of their seats. However, there were some major takeaways from Richmond as well. Take the comeback made by the Fords, for example. And the brilliant performance of RFK Racing and their co-owner Brad Keselowski.

Last season, he won the pole at Texas Motor Speedway, which was the first since the 2019 season when he had 3 pole wins to his credit. His plan for this year was to get win 2+ races, 1 or fewer pit road penalties, and more than 2 poles. After watching his performance last weekend, NASCAR fans are expecting him to have a breakthrough soon.

Although the Toyotas took over Stage 1, Brad Keselowski took over the charge during Stage 2. Although an awkward turn into the pit stall cost him a few spots, he was able to make a P6 finish.

Former stock car driver, Kyle Petty spoke in one of the NASCAR videos about how Brad has pioneered his team since becoming its co-owner and how RFK has risen from being a mid-pack team to one of the top 10 contenders in recent days. Apart from congratulating Chris Buescher on his win, Petty could not stop praising the number 6 Ford Mustang driver.

He said, “Yesterday was Chris Buescher day in the state of Virginia. Congratulations Chris Buescher, those guys deserved the win. They were the fastest cars once we got to the midpoint. So that is the tip of the hat to RFK Racing, and along with that you have to give a tip of the hat to Brad Keselowski.”

He also went on to say, “What an incredible job he has done since becoming part owner over there, of leading that team and pointing them in a direction.”

Brad Keselowski could not win the race but he is extremely happy for his driver Buescher. During a post-race interview, he opened up on his feelings about the team and, more specifically, Buescher.

Apart from the performance of RFK Racing, what was more commendable was the resurgence of the Fords at Richmond. Amidst the Chevrolet and Toyota supremacy, the Fords made an incredible performance with 6 cars in the top 10.
