Earlier, the Stewart-Haas Racing team announced some heartbreaking news about the organization selling its four charters and shutting the shop. Naturally, this spells disaster for Tony Stewart’s four drivers because they will be rendered jobless next season. Another consequence of this decision is that four spots on the NASCAR Cup Series grid have opened up.

Furthermore, it also means that four charters are up for sale. This would obviously trigger a lot of activity among teams who are hoping to expand, and one party is Brad Keselowski. The Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing driver/owner currently runs a two-car operation. Though he does have a third car that runs on a part-time basis, he will be keen to make that permanent or get a fourth. For that, he will have to purchase a charter, and it just so happens, that four have popped up, ripe for the picking.

Recently, the #6 driver was asked if he and RFK Racing sounded as if he were just planning his fourth charter. Keselowski quipped on Twitter, “I’m 30m short at the moment. Friends saw we should start a GoFundMe“. Obviously, he meant that as a joke, but digging deeper, it could be an indication that a fourth charter could be on the cards.

RFK Racing already got a massive confidence boost, thanks to Keselowski’s win at Darlington, and almost a win at Charlotte. This year, the organization has been running the #60 Ford with a number of different drivers at select races. With that in mind, it isn’t too much of a stretch to think that RFK Racing wants to add a fourth car to the roster. It will gladly aid their championship chances, help them become the best of the Ford teams, and be a title threat.

RFK Racing is going from strength to strength

Since the team’s debut as RFK Racing, there have been some growing pains initially. However, the organization has always worked hard to overcome any issues. On the bright side, they had a quality signing in the form of Chris Buescher, who has notched up a few wins for the team. Last year was pretty much a breakout season for the 31-year-old, as he stormed to victory on three occasions, including two in a row.

Meanwhile, Brad Keselowski often missed out or came ever so close to winning a race. All of that changed at the Darlington Raceway when he took advantage of teammate Buescher and Tyler Reddick’s squabbling. When those two hampered themselves, Keselowski accepted the open invitation to take the lead and eventually won the race. This snapped a 110-race dry spell, where his last win was all the way back in 2021.
