A month has flown by since Ryan Blaney’s victory lap, and now NASCAR drivers have gathered once more in front of the media before the grand finale at the year-end awards banquet. Yet, the buzz wasn’t just about Ryan Blaney during these media exchanges. Instead, as Brad Keselowski of RFK Racing opened up, the spotlight shifted towards stirring up some curiosity in the NASCAR world about what 2024 might hold for their team.

Delving into their plans for the upcoming year, Brad Keselowski unveiled the exciting prospect of a third car joining the fray in 2024. This new addition, he believes, will not only beef up the team’s arsenal but also pivot their focus towards the “Stage 60” initiative. Amid the buzz of Champions Week, the RFK Racing crew dropped a bombshell with their ‘Stage 60’ program announcement. They’re revving up for a debut at next year’s Daytona 500, with seasoned pro David Ragan behind the wheel of the No. 60 Ford. This initiative zeroes in on speedway and road course races, playing to their strengths.

Brad Keselowski quipped, “I think the premise behind Daytona is that’s probably one of the actually easier races for us to run. With respect to selling a partner, bringing in a good driver like David, and then the success that we’ve had with our cars and those tracks. We felt really confident that we could go there and be competitive.”

Expanding on their strategy, he added, “Yeah, we want to have a third car for the 500 the last two years. We’ve been in a position to win a race with both our cars and for a number of reasons it didn’t come together and we’d like to think that having a third car would give us some more. strength that’s all for being able to bring that home. […] I just think that where we’re at as a company, we don’t want to just grow just to grow. I’m not particularly interested in that. We want to grow to be successful. And so it takes a very measured means to do that, and I think that’s what the Stage 60 car represents for us.”

David Ragan, a seasoned campaigner with 13 full seasons in the NASCAR Cup Series and a notable victory in Daytona’s 2011 summer race, will bring a wealth of experience to the team. His track record includes eight top-10 finishes at Daytona, underscoring his prowess on the track. Besides, the No. 60 car, a legend with 94 Xfinity race wins, has snagged BuildSubmarines.com as its anchor sponsor for 2024. Also, the move will mark a significant comeback, as it’s the first time since 2011 that the No. 60 car will be hitting the track in any Cup race.

But the pre-banquet show wasn’t just a one-team show. Stirring up equal interest was Ryan Blaney’s interest in moving to double down, a development that kept the media session buzzing with excitement.

Kyle Larson is gearing up to be part of an exclusive circle in NASCAR history, joining legends like John Andretti, Robby Gordon, Tony Stewart, and Kurt Busch, who have all tackled The Double. During a heart-to-heart with Roger Penske, Blaney’s mentor, the beans were spilled: Ryan Blaney has been toying with the idea of taking on the Indianapolis 500 for the past few weeks.

Blaney, in a chat with the press, let slip that this notion has been doing somersaults in his mind for a while. “I’ve poked around that idea with RP for a couple of years now, and I might have to bring it back up. So we’ll see where that goes. I just feel like not many people can do that, can do The Double. It’s a pretty short list, and it’d be neat to just do it.”
