While the No.2 Penske driver Austin Cindric earned a lot of new fans at the Daytona 500, the former No.2 Penske driver, Brad Keselowski, probably lost a lot. This is because of the latter’s driving that led to a few wrecks throughout the course of the race, which NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr, recently spoke about.

In the recent episode of his podcast, Dale Jr addressed the way Keselowski approached the race and kept it the same despite the many incidents he caused.

Earnhardt Jr. said, “When I’ve been in that situation and done something like that, I try really hard to…you gotta keep racing hard, you have to push…you have to keep on doing things that Brad was doing. But I feel like, ‘Gosh! Okay, you can’t do that again, right?'”

He described how once you wreck another driver, intentionally or unintentionally, you’ve kind of used your one “mulligan” for the rest of the race. “I can’t allow that to happen again during this race or I’m really going to draw a lot of attention to myself or probably piss off all the people I’m racing with,” he added.

“Seeing that happening to Brad (Keselowski), I was like, Damn! Brad don’t care. Like Brad don’t care what you think!”

“It’s interesting because Brad obviously when it happened the first time, didn’t have the reaction that I would have. Brad didn’t go, ‘That was my mulligan’,” Dale Jr continued.

“Brad just kept on racing the same way.”

Dale Earnhardt Jr suggests the reason why Keselowski drove the way he did

The former Hendrick driver suggested that if one knows Brad Keselowski, they shouldn’t be surprised by what happened in Daytona 500.

“If you know Brad, that’s not a big surprise, because he’s out there for Brad,” he said.

Earnhardt Jr described how perhaps, because of his new role, his new deal at RFK Racing, he’s trying to prove that he made “the right choice.”

He added, “Maybe he’s racing with a chip on his shoulder out there, tryin’ to show everybody, he’s going to turn Roush into the program it used to be.”
