NASCAR fans are counting the days until the Olympics finish and the racing begins in Richmond. With only four races remaining, the season is at a crucial point. As everyone is trying to strengthen their spots in the playoffs, Chase Elliot doesn’t mind the break.

Before going into the 2-week summer Olympics break, Elliott talked about how ‘less is more‘ and that the more time the racing is off, the hungrier the fans get when it resumes. And the fans seemed to be starved enough as they echoed the words of a frustrated and bored Carson Hocevar, who took it all out on X.

No matter the dread, the break couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. The playoffs are just short of four more races, and the racing teams have gotten time to push back, relax, regroup, and make a strategy to come back stronger, especially important for the likes of Bubba Wallace and Kyle Busch, who are still winless.

However, some racers have used the break to have fun and enjoy. Be it Kyle Busch, who is on a family vacation to Italy. His wife, Samantha Busch, has a long itinerary, as she posted about their trip on social media. This is Busch’s first winless season, and for someone who’s never missed a playoff in their career, it must be frustrating. Hopefully, a post-trip relaxed Busch will have a better race when the season resumes.

As for Tyler Reddick, he’s had the most memorable break. Because he got married to his longtime girlfriend, Alexa DeLeon. Next, Team Penske took the liberty of discussing how a racing event in the Olympics would be. Where everyone made demands. The most bizarre request was made by the IndyCar racer, Josef Newgarden. He wants an ice track to race on in the Olympics. He said, “Where one stage is a dirt race, another stage may be an ice race or some type of snow situation. Then you can get a short oval; you could do a tiny road course.”

However, one man who’s had enough of the break was Carson Hocevar, who took to X expressing his boredom and eagerness to return to the track. He said, “I am bored today. I wanna race.”

Maybe he’s so eager because he desperately needs a win to stay in contention. Like him, the fans are also bored with a weekend without racing. It was almost like a chorus on Hocevar’s post with fans saying we want to see a race.

Why the boredom amid the Summer Olympics?

NASCAR, going into a break is nothing different from a movie going into suspense. The question of who’s in and out of the playoffs lingers. Fans can’t wait to come back to the tracks and see the drama unfold in Michigan. Along the same lines, a fan wrote, “I’m bored. I wanna watch NASCAR.” The same emotion is being echoed by almost all the fans. Another one wrote, “I miss racing.”

NASCAR will return on August 11th at Richmond Raceway, the day that the Olympics conclude in Paris, France. It seems like the fans gave a shot at watching the Olympics, but for them, it couldn’t replicate the same thrill. One fan, voicing his dislike for the other sports, wrote, “I’d rather y’all be racing then the Olympics.”

However, not all racing formats are on a break. ARCA Menard and Late Model Racing just recently raced at the Hickory Motor Speedway. The latter marked the first win for Ronnie Bassett, Jr. Suggesting Hocevar to go race in the next Late Model race, a fan wrote, “Shoulda got that late model back out you ran at the dome and brought it to Fairbury this weekend!”

A weekend without NASCAR feels like a weekend wasted. Fans had some unique suggestions to kill the boredom. One of them urged Hocevar to try the virtual kind of racing, “hop on mario kart.”

The series is set to resume in 12 days. The next four races are going to be crucial for table toppers and bottom dwellers alike. Where one is the fight for the coveted playoff points, the other is a fight to stay in the playoff race. What have you been doing on the NASCAR-less weekend? Let us know in the comments below.
