Just a week ago, Kyle Busch was seething with frustration. The two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion was fuming over an aggressive move by Carson Hocevar in Atlanta. “He’s a f—— douchebag, I’m going to wreck his a–,” Busch ranted on the radio. The Rowdy we all know thrives on aggression. He doesn’t take disrespect lightly. If someone wrongs him on the track, they can expect payback. That’s just who he is.
But fast forward to the Circuit of The Americas (COTA), and something unexpected happened. Busch found himself battling Christopher Bell, the same driver who spun him out last year. The situation was primed for fireworks. Bell had multiple opportunities to throw caution to the wind and use his bumper to wipe off Busch from the lead. Only he didn’t. Sure they traded some paints and banged doors but it was clean racing, which Rowdy also approved after the race.
After this level of hard yet clean racing, NASCAR veteran Jeff Burton also praised the Joe Gibbs Racing driver. He appreciated his ability to thrive in tough conditions. However, he also slammed other NASCAR drivers and gave a blunt verdict on the rising trend of ‘aggressive’ driving.

Christopher Bell earns respect in the NASCAR garage!
Christopher Bell isn’t the flashiest name in NASCAR, but he’s quickly becoming one of its toughest competitors. His rise through the ranks has been built on skill, patience, and an unwavering belief in clean racing. His amazing performance at COTA attracted a lot of eyeballs, including NASCAR veteran Jeff Burton. The former Cup driver not only praised Bell but also highlighted his maturity, which sets him apart from others.
On the latest episode of Inside the Race, Burton said, “I think he is on the positive side of things. I just see it in his eyes, man. He’s mature, he’s fast, the moment’s not too big for him. He’s not going to get out of character too often. We saw his willingness to say, ‘I might lose this race, but I’m going to do it my way. I’m not going to let outside pressure, I’m not going to let anything push me into doing something that I don’t want to do. I’m going to race the way I think is right.’ A lot of drivers don’t have the mental toughness to do that.”
Notably, that toughness was on full display at COTA. At one point, Bell had the opportunity to dive-bomb Busch into Turn 1, a move that could have easily led to contact. Instead, he waited for the right moment, showing patience and confidence in his car’s performance. This style of racing stands in stark contrast to the norm in recent years. Many drivers have leaned heavily on aggressive tactics, bumping and wrecking their way to the front.

Only last week Carson Hocevar had an unapologetic reaction toward his aggressive moves, which pi—- off many. But Bell proved that a different approach can still lead to victory. However, just a year ago on the same track, this battle between Busch and Bell ended on a completely different note. Bell spun Busch, ending his day and sparking one of the biggest feuds of 2024. Busch was furious, throwing expletives and promising revenge. The tension was real.
But in 2025, things played out differently. Despite not winning the race, Kyle Busch was a happy man. He praised Christopher Bell for his clean racing approach and gave him credit for his win. “I’ll give Christopher credit… He did a great job working me over and just doing it the right way. He ran hard, and I was a complete b—head… I wish we had a little bit more at the end… I’d love to have equal tires to the 20,” Busch admitted after the race. However, unlike his rowdy avatar, Busch also praised his Richard Childress Racing team for their efforts.

Kyle Busch heaps praise on RCR!
While Kyle Busch didn’t get the win at COTA, his performance showed promise. After a challenging 2024 season filled with DNFs and struggles, Busch’s 5th-place finish was a step in the right direction. More importantly, his attitude toward his team and sponsors reflected a renewed sense of belief. Notably, His last win came at Gateway in 2023, and since then, he’s been on a frustrating 60-race winless streak. But despite that, Busch isn’t giving up. In fact, he sounds more optimistic than ever.
“Everybody at Rowdy Nation, RCR… The guys did a phenomenal job with the race car. Not the way I wanted it, but just being able to make as many adjustments as we did there in practice and qualifying… Can’t say enough about Randall and all the guys,” Busch said after the race. This confidence comes from Busch’s consistent performance. In COTA, he finished fifth while leading the race for 42 laps.

Not to forget he bagged a top-10 finish in Atlanta, which shows his RCR team is headed in the right direction. Additionally, Busch’s No. 8 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet has strong backing from sponsors like Rebel Bourbon, Zone, and Chevrolet. These companies have stuck with him despite his struggles. That kind of support shows faith in Busch’s ability to bounce back. With his renewed mindset and a strong team behind him, the question isn’t if Busch will return to Victory Lane—it’s when. Based on what we saw at COTA, that moment might come sooner than we think.
