When the 2023 NASCAR Cup season begins, Kyle Busch will be starting a new episode in his illustrious career. After 15 years with Joe Gibbs Racing, he has finally broken ties. The confirmation came in September that he will be competing for the Richard Childress Racing organization, driving the #8 car. In a recent conversation, Busch opened up about his expectations for the new season with his new team.

Talking to NBC Sports, he said, “I expect to come right out of the gate and get going and be fast right away. I hope that comes to fruition and starts at the Clash. Last year, [Tyler] Reddick qualified second and blew my doors off in the first 15 laps of the race and drove away and had a big lead, and then they ended up breaking, and I inherited the lead. Then [Joey] Logano ended up beating me, and Austin Dillon finished third. I feel like there’s a really good sense of a baseline to be able to go out there and be fast and competitive right out of the gate and look good like we need to. I don’t think it will take much time. Fast cars cure all.”

Can Kyle Busch bring glory to Richard Childress Racing?

Truthfully speaking, he has the capability and is hugely talented. RCR will be his third team after Hendrick Motorsports and Joe Gibbs Racing. With the previous two teams, he has notched up wins, and he will be keen to bring the championship to RCR. Last year at the Clash, he was in relatively good form and will be looking to start with a bang again.

One cannot grudge a novice driver some time to find their groove in a new environment and get used to the car and crew. However, Kyle Busch is a veteran with 19 seasons worth of experience in the Cup Series. He is aware that he does not have that luxury. So he will be keen to hit the ground running from the first race itself.
