For any sport, the connection and relatability with the fans is of the utmost importance. While NASCAR has enjoyed a highly dedicated fanbase over the years, the game could surely benefit more from other avenues. Fortunately, exciting news has come up and the NASCAR faithful couldn’t be more excited.

It is no secret that NASCAR has struggled with pleasing its fanbase in recent times. While the fall in viewership this year speaks volumes about it, there is something that might help the sport’s cause massively in this regard.

There is no doubt that the fans enjoy cheering their favorite drivers on the track. However, there is nothing more that they would love than to relate to what it is like to be behind the wheel. It is certainly an experience that every fan would wish to have someday.

While that practically looks difficult, the closest they can get to it is through simulation—in simpler words, gaming. Around the globe, plenty of fans have cherished the prospect of motorsports racing through games. Having said that, NASCAR has failed to have a convincing gaming landscape in recent times.

However, there is good news on this front for the fans as iRacing is touted to release a NASCAR console release by 2025. It only gets better for the fandom as iRacing’s Executive Vice President Steve Myers is leading the team to ensure a fantastic experience. For those unaware, the well-experienced Myers has been in the gaming business since the start of the 21st century.

Before joining iRacing, he was associated with Papyrus, building NASCAR Racing PC games. While Myers and his team have acquired all the desired licenses for the game, he is keen on bringing back the gaming experience in the form of a career mode.

Like many other games, it will allow users to create a new driver profile and build their career from scratch up to the top i.e. the Cup Series. It is believed to be more or less in similar lines to how it was like with the ‘Dirt to Daytona’ concept built by Monster Games in 2022.

Speaking about it to Sportsnaut, Myers said, “I think people want a compelling experience, something that makes them feel like they’re doing this thing they love. I think they want a fun experience in the sense that they want features and content inside of the game that go beyond the Cup Series, other areas in the sport, be it grassroots and then Trucks and Xfinity.”

Indeed, this is exciting news for the NASCAR fanbase as it is something that has been sought for a long time. Unsurprisingly, plenty of them expressed their happiness on social media with some creative suggestions.

Without a doubt, Steve Myers is a credible name in the gaming industry. With his promising vision for the next NASCAR console game, there is plenty to look forward to. In fact, even Dale Earnhardt Jr believes strongly in this idea. Speaking on The Dale Jr. Download podcast recently, he said, “I have been in a conversation with the iRacing about their vision, and it’s absolutely what you’d expect.”

Junior continued, “There’s some realism (but) the console side of it has to appeal to a very general wide audience. So, I think that they are going to nail the target.” While the former Hendrick Motorsports driver believes in the vision, so do the NASCAR fans. Some of them were quite expressive on social media about it.

“If they can truly make this game to be like a blend of dirt to Daytona and Nascar 04, this game will be top notch!!”
“The WoO game they made is fantastic, and they have a great track record of really listening to fan input. I have super high hopes for this release. @IndyCar figure yr shit out and hop on board with this thinking.”
“Cant wait, Really never got into those cartoonish arcade games”
“The first ever game I played was EA NASCAR Sim Racing 2005. Seems like we are moving back that way which I love”
“It would be awesome to have some sort of currency that you have to earn with a career mode to work your way up from regional to trucks/xfinity/cup etc.”
