At the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, there was trouble as multiple cars were involved in qualifying crashes. Naturally, this infuriated a lot of drivers, most notably, Denny Hamlin. Apparently, most of the crashes happened in the Xfinity Series, and the Joe Gibbs Racing driver tweeted his displeasure.
Although it was deleted afterward, there was a lot of debate about his comments. Hamlin tweeted that if NASCAR wanted to be taken seriously, the display wasn’t helping.

In response to that, Bubba Wallace’s spotter Freddie Kraft said, “What do you think I think? Denny’s great! I don’t know why he ever deleted it. We took a lot of momentum out of the Coliseum, took a lot of momentum out of Daytona. Then on Saturday, let’s be honest, was kind of a black eye.”
Did Denny Hamlin have a point in his criticism?
Kraft noted that there were many Xfinity drivers spinning out in practice and qualifying. Unfortunately, the actual race itself was not much better, and he described it as a ‘nightmare’.

According to Kraft, if the drivers spin and are able to recover, there is no problem. However, this isn’t happening, and a spin now results in a crash, which requires cleanup from the marshals.
Obviously, this kind of situation is unacceptable and needs to be fixed. Looking back, Kraft guessed that Denny Hamlin realized his mistake. To be exact, it was not the right time to criticize the sport. It is also worth mentioning that the weather probably played a role in the crashes in the Xfinity arena.

This is because there were 30-40 mph winds blowing in a bad part of the track. Naturally, it caught out several racers and they were helpless. While it may not have been a direct cause, it would have been a massive headache for the pack. Hopefully, NASCAR will sort out this issue very soon.
