Bill McAnally Racing has announced the signing of 20-year-old Eric Johnson Jr. Hailing from La Center Washington, Johnson will be piloting BMR’s No.19 Chevrolet SS for the 2024 ARCA Menards Series West season. Joining driver Jack Wood, Eric Johnson’s signing marks BMR’s first full-time entry since 2022.

Johnson did run a part-time schedule for Billy McAnally Racing in 2023 in the ARCA Menards West Series. However, this time around in 2024, the 20-year-old will be running a full-time schedule, competing in the entire 12-race-long calendar. Johnson Jr will be kicking off his rookie AMSW season at the Phoenix Raceway on March 8th.

Johnson Jr. was featured under the BMR banner during the 2023 ARCA Menards West Series. He drove both the No.19 Toyota and Chevy cars for a total of four races finishing twice in the top-10. Now with the 2024 season on the horizon, the youngster has just sealed a full 12-race schedule with BMR.

Expressing his delight in making this move, Johnson said, “To be part of such a prestigious team is truly a dream come true for me. Last year was an unforgettable experience filed with new challenges, and now I have a team I feel confident in. I still have so much to learn, but getting my feet wet in the series in 2023 was a great step in the right direction. I’m excited to work alongside Jack (Wood) and learn as much as I can from him and the BMR team.”

Team owner Bill McAnally was equally thrilled in onboarding the talented racer to his roster, “We’re very excited to bring Eric (Johnson Jr.) back for a second season in the AMSW. n his four races, Eric (Johnson Jr.) showed us a lot of potential and how quickly he can adjust to the car. Having Jack (Wood) and Eric (Johnson Jr.) next season will give us a great chance for another championship.”

The 20-year-old certainly has worked his way up the ranks, from being a crew member at spotter at BMR to now get his own full-time schedule, he certainly has come a long way.

Erick Jr has previously worked as a crew member and a spotter for drivers such as Derek Kraus, Jesse Love, Cole Moore, and others under the BMR banner. While he did a pretty good job at being a crew member but he was destined for more and soon he found himself inside the race car and made his debut at Portland International Raceway.

The then 19-year-old was living his dream and was elated on being provided the opportunity by BMR to kick-start his ARMW chapter. “The chance to drive one of Bill McAnally’s cars is truly a humbling, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that I am beyond grateful for! Well, Johnson Jr certainly has outdone himself and come March 8th at Phoenix he will kick-start his first full-time schedule in the ARCA Menards West Series.
