In modern NASCAR, Chase Elliott is regarded as the most popular driver. This is pretty much a legacy that he inherited from his father, Bill Elliott. Elliott Jr clinched the Most Popular Driver Award for a fourth year in a row in 2021. This adds to the two popular driver awards he won in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2014-15, bringing his total tally to six.
This continues a family tradition from the NASCAR Hall of Famer Bill Elliott. This is because the 66-year-old has won the Most Popular Driver award a record 16 times, non-consecutively. He leads the great Dale Earnhardt Jr. by the slender margin of one, who clinched the award for 15 straight years from 2013 to 2017.

“Just super grateful to have a lot of great support across the country,” Chase Elliott said. “It’s been super humbling, honestly. I feel like every year that goes by, we go to a new town or a new place and I’m just. Like Road America this year, I think back to that event and that weekend and all the folks that were there supporting us was unbelievable.”

What about Chase Elliott, son of Bill Elliott?
In 2020, the #9 Hendrick Motorsports driver took his maiden Cup Series title. Unfortunately, he could not repeat the feat, notching up two wins in the season. On the bright side, he did reach the Championship 4 for a second consecutive season. However, he was powerless to stop his Hendrick Motorsports teammate, Kyle Larson.
It is also worth mentioning that Elliott’s Most Popular Driver win kept the trophy with Hendrick Motorsports even longer. To be precise, the team as a whole, has won it for the 14th straight year. The #9 driver insisted that he is proud of being true to himself, as a person and competitor. Now, he will be focused on the 2022 Cup Series season and trying to wrest back the title from Kyle Larson.
