The official first rounds of the 2022 NASCAR Cup, Truck, and Xfinity seasons are just a couple of days away. In the buildup to the Xfinity season, there was a massive scare for everyone. As it turns out, an Xfinity trailer caught fire while en-route to the Daytona International Speedway. Fortunately, it was not a very big fire, but it was still a scary incident for those involved.

According to photographs and video clips, the fire mostly concentrated around the rear wheels. This likely suggests that the brakes overheated and caused the fire. Luckily, there was a fire truck nearby to put out the fire. Some fans later confirmed that the Xfinity hauler managed to successfully reach its destination.

Obviously, the right rear brake was Kentucky fried, so the driver had to be very careful on the journey. It was also fortunate that the fire did not breach the inside of the big rig and damage the equipment. This particular big rig was not associated with a particular team, but it is possible that it had some valuable stuff inside it.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series drivers are eager to start the new season

Barring this minor but frightening incident, the drivers themselves are keen to resume racing. Daniel Hemric enters the new season as the reigning champion, but with a target on his back. While the likes of Harrison Burton and Austin Cindric are not on the Xfinity grid, it doesn’t mean that it lacks contenders.

The new Kaulig Racing driver will be wary of a number of rivals. This includes his teammates, the JR Motorsports team, and his former team, Joe Gibbs Racing. The big question is, can Hemric do it again, and do it in a convincing fashion? This is because he has only one win to his name in the Series; although that win was enough for him to seal him the title in 2021, that may not be the case this upcoming season.
