Seeking redemption, Joe Gibbs Racing veteran, Martin Truex Jr was a man on a mission, dominating both the first 2 stages as he looked for another Monday win at the iconic Superspeedway at Michigan. What looked like another outright domination by the #19 Toyota was quickly turned around by the Fords, who put on a show, resisting to budge to the #19 JGR car’s pressure and racking a 9th straight win at their backyard – Michigan.

With another Speedway race in the rearview mirror, Trackhouse Racing star and Chicago triumphant, Shane Van Gisbergen may now find himself in the spotlight as the action is headed to the road race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

While the Kiwi Supercars champion made NASCAR’s inaugural street race look like a walk in the park for him, the scene has drastically changed now with the all-American manufacturer, Ford reclaiming the throne with back-to-back wins, proving that they are more than capable of being just fast.

Ford bares its fangs as SVG eyes a 2nd win at the Indy road course

Michigan, the once thriving automobile city, just witnessed another thrilling Stock car race as RFK Racing‘s Chris Buescher, racked up his 2nd back to back, bringing Ford their 3rd win of the season. The RFK cars showed speed, dominating the short track at Richmond while proving the manufacturer’s capabilities.

This week’s Speedway race was another reality check for those who underestimated Ford. And RFK Racing was at the forefront of it, with both the veteran Brad Keselowski and Buescher giving the Chevrolets and Toyotas a run for their money. Despite the early rally from the veteran driver, Truex Jr, the RFK cars showed grit as Buescher edged out the veteran in the final laps to put a statement out there.

Being a part of the best Ford teams in the promotion today, after the race, Buescher was asked about his journey at RFK, and how things have shaped up so far. To this, the race winner had a simple answer. He said, “I mean, if you look at how our season’s gone, a lot of it does come back down to the organization, the investments that have been made. The things that have gotten better that put us in these opportunities.”

The journey certainly has been a tough one, from being one of the best teams in the sport to being a sub-par camp and now again reclaiming their glory, Buescher also credited his co-owner and fellow driver who played an instrumental role in the team’s revival, bringing them back to life. Siding with his crew chief, Scott Graves, he said, “Like Scott was saying, the expectations for a little while was we’re in a bad spot, we know it, we needed to be 10 spots better. 10 spots better was only 15th at the time.”

Furthermore, he detailed how the rebranding of the team and the veteran’s involvement got the team out of the rut, saying, “You look back at it now, you’re looking for those steps, but we needed to take a massive step and a big swing. I think that’s where, with some of Brad’s direction, the rebrand within RFK as a group, I think that’s been the investment, to say our expectation is not to get five spots better, it is to win races and to compete for championships.”

With the RFK Racing bringing the Fords back to the podium, flaunting their expertise and racing prowess, the 2012 Cup Series champion, Brad Keselowski has certainly saved Ford fans’ faces, reviving the almost downtrodden Roush Fenway group, picking them up and leading the way.

It seems to be Keselowski’s investment in the team that has paid its dividends handsomely. The #17 driver reiterates his timely intervention and support that paved the way for their resurgence, bringing the Ford once again back to the victory lane.

“The investment is there. The people are there. Everything is behind it to get us to that point. We’re starting to reap some of the rewards from that right now. We also have a lot of racing to go this year,” said Buescher, who was never a believer of momentum.

While the driver is grateful for the veteran, Keselowski, on the other hand, says that the hype train has just started its journey. Teasing fans a thrilling Indy road race, Keselowski who finished 4th, said, “I’m tickled to death that we’re as strong as we were this weekend and last weekend. Looking for big things in Indy off that momentum. I know Chris is one of the best road course drivers in the series. Last year he probably deserved to win that race, but caught some terrible breaks. He’s going to have a heck of a shot next week. I’m happy for him.”
