Earlier last weekend at the Texas Motor Speedway, Ty Gibbs did not endear himself to anyone. While exiting the pit lane, he was wheel-to-wheel with Ty Dillon when he did the unthinkable. The #23 driver suddenly turned into Dillon and almost caused him to run over a few people in the pit lane. This included a couple of crew members from another team, and a couple of NASCAR officials.

However, this is not the first time a NASCAR driver has done something stupid and reckless in the pit lane. During the 2007 Daytona 500, Dave Blaney did a pretty bizarre move, that was born out of a clever idea on paper. Close to the end of the race, Blaney was near the back, when he spotted several cars jostling with each other. Of course, he guessed that there would be an inevitable wreck.
How did the NASCAR driver go about avoiding the potential wreck?
Blaney elected to dive down pit road to avoid a disaster and gain some places. However, it is worth mentioning that he literally rocketed down pit road at 150mph. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that going at that speed in the pit lane was highly dangerous. Blaney was lucky that there were very few people in that area, so he was able to get away, but not for long.

Soon, karma came back to bite him, because he did not realise that his right front tyre was flat. Then, when he tried to rejoin the pack, he botched things up badly and triggered the very caution that he wanted to avoid. So, when Dave Blaney attempted to merge back, he bumped poor old Ken Schrader and caused a wreck. Another victim was Clint Bowyer, who had to take avoiding action and went for a bumpy ride on the grass.
