Before Bubba Wallace walked into 23XI Racing, he used to race for Petty GMS. Back in 2018, while racing at Pocono Raceway, Wallace was involved in a crash, which was considered one of the most violent crashes of that season. To everyone’s surprise, he walked out of the wreck unhurt.

Wallace was barrelling down the straight when he realized that his brakes had given way. The moment he pressed the brake pedal, the entire brake rotor blew up into pieces. Wallace quickly thought that if he veered to the left and onto the grass, he might be able to lose some of the momentum. However, the grass barely helped and he soon found himself sliding across all the way up into the outside wall.
The impact was so hard that the SAFER barriers wiggled back and forth with the sheer force of the impact. Wallace took some time but was able to climb out of the car all by himself. Soon he was taken to the infield care centre, where he was promptly released since he had been cleared by the medics.
