During an interview with Bob Pockrass, the #19 driver discussed the reasons behind his decision to come back and shared exciting insights into his future plans.

Indeed, last year was a challenging one for Truex Jr. as he faced performance struggles throughout the season. However, this year has been a complete turnaround for the No. 19 driver. With sheer determination and hard work, he managed to secure three wins, and now he’s leading the standings with an impressive 744 points.
The 43-year-old certainly demonstrated that he is more than capable of continuing his strong performance in the upcoming years. Yet, he had to take into consideration his responsibilities to his family and friends. Finally, he took the time to share his decision publicly.

In a conversation with Bob Pockrass, Truex Jr. made it clear that he’s coming back for the next season. When asked “why”, he simply replied with a big smile, “Because I want to.”

Truex Jr. clarified that his deal for the upcoming year remains the same as last year’s, with no significant changes, “Not really kind a same deal so Didn’t feel right no not come back and keep what we are doing. So excited to get that out of the way and continue work from this year and excited for next year.”

Earlier this year, the successful 82-year-old team owner, Joe Gibbs, had a conversation with his driver, Martin Truex Jr, regarding his decisions about retirement. Joe Gibbs revealed that Truex Jr had expressed similar thoughts about retiring last year as well. During their discussion, Joe Gibbs tried to explain things to him and hoped for a positive response from his driver.
During the press conference at New Hampshire after Martin Truex’s third victory of the season, Joe Gibbs said, “I wish would you please stop talking to him for me. He tells me the same thing every year- ‘I’m right in the middle of trying to make this decision. I go, ‘Come on what are you talking about, man? You are making money, have fun driving race cars. Come on’!”
Joe Gibbs emphasized the importance of their deal with Truex and continued, “But we haven’t I think it is though very important for us to kind of have some pressure here because it’s pressure for all of us. It’s a huge deal for us and I am hoping, I really felt like he’s having such a great year and I think he’s having fun and so I am hoping that we get a good answer for us here.”
