It is already happening. Years of wait finally comes to an end as the gates of North Wilkesboro Speedway opened for Cup Series races. The asphalt which had made way for weeds is finally seeing the tire marks, as the air is filled with the smell of burned rubber.

The long-awaited race took its final shape on Saturday. With the heats for both All-Star Open and All-Star Race completed, the final line-up before the main event on Sunday has been decided. Both races turned out to be exhilarating, as it was the first time for many drivers to be racing on this iconic track.

Although the weather tried to dampen the mood of the game, the excitement among the spectators was high enough to not be deterred by the light showers. The races witnessed the drivers putting their best foot forward in order to gain the pole position and also the upper hand for the main event. It was Ty Gibbs who emerged victorious as he and his team seized the pit crew challenge and also the pole position.

But again, NASCAR races are not complete without a few bumps and wrecks along the way. Saturday was no exception, as Brad Keselowski bumped into Bubba Wallace. However, there was not much of a debate between the two, and chose to handle it sportingly with a high-five after the race.

Bubba Wallace was asked by the media personnel, You high-fived Brad afterward, was that just like a textbook bump and run?”

The 23XI Racing driver replied, “Those guys preach about respect, so I went up to show my respect.”

He also added, “No, I’m just kidding. No, it was fun, was just playing racing. He gave me probably five laps too many. So I appreciate that so that’s kind of what, that’s okay.”

Keselowski was asked to comment about Wallace’s reactions, “Bubba said that you gave him probably 5 laps too many. He gave you a high-five at the end. What happened, was that a textbook short-track racing?”

The co-owner of RFK Racing in jest added, “Yeah I mean my car was a little faster, and I didn’t need to recommend a heat race, that’s for sure. And you don’t want to give up the spot which I wasn’t either, so that’s what I think we’re all here for.”

Although things seem to be pretty normal between the two drivers, fans haven’t taken the #23 Toyota Camry driver’s comments well.

One wrote, “That’s hilarious. If he run his car as much as he does his mouth he might be descent as a driver.”

Others commented, “Cry-Baby again,” and “Welfare Wallace. Nobody cares.”
