If there is one thing about NASCAR fans, it is that they enjoy getting nostalgic. Ahead of this weekend’s Cup race at the Talladega Superspeedway, NASCAR decided to revisit an old race. The race caught the attention of the community because it featured a well-known face in the paddock, Dale Earnhardt Jr. During this particular race, the #8 driver soared to his fourth consecutive win at the iconic race track—a record that no one has been able to topple to date.

The former Cup Series driver’s win streak began in 2001 and stretched until 2003. This particular video shows Dale Jr leading the race and heading into the final lap. At the time, he was forced to defend against a massive train of cars hounding him, led by Kevin Harvick.

Dale Earnhardt Jr leads the reactions to his 4th consecutive Talladega win

Within just hours of the clip being posted by NASCAR, Dale Jr reacted to the old clip with a rocket emoji. Other fans joined him in the trip down memory lane and acknowledged that they enjoyed watching Dale Jr dominate at Talladega. Many declared that they miss seeing the 2x Daytona 500 winner out on the race track. So seeing video clips like this is just what they needed.

People were so happy when Dale Earnhardt Jr won this race. This was because it was just another step towards him establishing his own legacy. One that let him make a name for himself, rather than be known only as the son of the late great Dale Earnhardt. A fan mentioned this, writing, “A time a man establishes HIS legacy as an all time great! #8 for life!”

A few followers could not help but feel nostalgia for the old days, with someone mentioning, “Wow do I miss that era of NASCAR,” while others comparing the quality of racing between then and the present.

Some of the die-hard supporters of Dale Jr went into hyperbole and called the performance the “Greatest run of dominance at one track [they]’ve seen.”
