The NASCAR Cup Series race at Gateway Motorsports Park might have delivered the most shocking race finish of this season. In a surprising turn of events, Austin Cindric was able to outpace his teammate Ryan Blaney, who was destined for his win just before the drop of the white flag. Blaney’s No. 12 Ford Mustang was out of gas and couldn’t finish the race.

Cindric, who was running on a similar three-pit stop strategy, had the easiest win of his career, passing his teammate for the win. Ryan Blaney just can’t catch a good break for himself this season. He was looking to get his first win of the season after two back-to-back DNF finishes. This time around did manage to keep his race car intact but, unfortunately, ran out of luck and gas at the same time.

Given Brad Kesleowski’s recent run of good performances, it was expected that some of the Penske camp would also catch on to the trend of fast-running Ford cars. Without any surprises, Blaney took charge in today’s race and started third in the second row. Credit to him, he did manage to stay ahead in the field, even fending off potential winner, Christopher Bell to maintain his lead.

With clean air, and Cindric way behind him, all he needed was to complete the two laps to grab the win. But, tragedy struck for the #12 team on the front stretch as the race car was out of fuel, thus allowing Cindric to grab his win. “Heartbroken for those guys, but this is huge for me. I’m so glad I was able to get the win. Brian is my crew chief in the Cup Series; you never know when it’s going to happen again, and drived my butt off and hoped for the best.”

Hurtful after another missed opportunity, Blaney after the race said that he didn’t expect to run out of fuel. “No, I didn’t think so. Never thought my mind that we were short, but we’ll those things … Had my work cut off, holding off Christopher, and it was fun battling him. I don’t know what happened to him. One lap short, that stings, but 2 team, they did a good job all day, so props to them, Austin. Really happy with our showing today; I don’t know what I got to do to get luck on my side.”

It wasn’t just Blaney, but a bunch of NASCAR fans were bumped out to see him put the win on a plate for Cindric. Unimpressed by the winning exploits of the #2 team, they shared their resentment towards him online on social media.

Some even called the race a complete joke after watching Austin Cindric take home his first win. “What a joke of a race. Completely Undeserved”.

Even some Denny Hamlin and Joey Logano haters chimed in with their comments, stating, they would have taken a win by those two drivers over Cindric. “Wow, that’s the worst winner this year. I’d rather see Hamlin, Truex, Bell, or Logano win”.

Calling out his racing talents compared to his teammates from the Penske camp, another user added, “Another Mickey Mouse win for the Mickiest driver in the Ford camp. 🤡🤡🤡”.

This was Cindric’s second win in the Cup Series, despite running full-time with the team for three years. Although he does have the backing of his father, Tim Cindric, who serves as the president of Team Penske, some fans believe, he might have extended his stay in the Cup Series. “Bro just saved his job”.

The only good thing that came out of this disappointing run for Blaney was that it was yet another win for the Ford contingent. It looked like Chevy and Toyota had cracked the got, so it’s good to see Ford racking up the wins, which is good news for the Penske star as he can have more attempts for a win.
