Earlier at the Martinsville Speedway, Ross Chastain stole all the headlines with his now-famous wall ride move. However, there were plenty of other storylines that went under the radar. One of them involved Stewart-Haas Racing driver Kevin Harvick and his daughter, Piper. Sometimes, it is easy to forget that our favorite NASCAR drivers are also human. Many of the drivers have families and love to spend time with their children.

At last weekend’s race in Martinsville, Harvick’s daughter Piper, provided some pre-race entertainment. Apparently, she wanted to play a small prank on her father, starting things off by adding her own name above his own on the car. Then, she sat in the car and decided to hide in it, telling the team to be quiet about it. Little Piper was able to watch on the onboard camera to see if her dad was coming, then she hid.

How did Kevin Harvick perform in the race at Martinsville
To be honest, qualifying went well because he snatched a fine 8th place on the grid. Eventually, the race got underway for the #4 driver, thankfully without the unexpected hitchhiker. However, it pretty much came undone in the race as he tumbled down the order to eventually finish in 16th. Kevin Harvick even failed to feature in the Top 10 in Stage 1 and in Stage 2. All in all, it was a fairly rough day in the office for the Stewart-Haas Racing driver.
It is also worth mentioning that he was knocked out of championship contention pretty early on. In fact, he was eliminated along with Kyle Busch and both Richard Childress Racing drivers. So, Harvick entered this race under no pressure at all, except to try and aid teammate Chase Briscoe’s Championship 4 hopes. Unfortunately, that did not happen, and the contenders are, Ross Chastain, Joey Logano, Chase Elliott and Christopher Bell. Now, Harvick will be looking forward to the season finale at the Phoenix Raceway.
