In a post-race interview at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, Kyle Busch expressed that the new schedule will be tough. However, there are a lot of things that he agrees with, including the inclusion of Iowa. The two-time Cup Series champion is not a stranger to the track, and he revealed that his son, Brexton Busch, also races in Iowa a bit.
Darlington getting to be the venue of the final regular-season race is another interesting move on NASCAR’s part. This will definitely spark debates among fans who feel that Daytona should host significant races, such as on the Fourth of July weekend or at the end of the regular season.
“I mean I think it’s all kind of relative. There’s a lot of back and forth across the country. I’ve already tried to look at my motor home schedule and that’s gonna be a disaster so, you know, but other than that, just, yeah I mean I like the Iowa piece. We race a bunch out there with Brexton’s stuff so the midwestern people, they’re gonna show up and it’s gonna be a good race so excited about that,” Kyle Busch said.
“I don’t know if the regular season finale really makes a difference. I think it is important as NASCAR said to keep the Darlington race on Labor Day so that was a good move. Just the Olympics kind of mess everything up so, you know. I look forward to the two-week break. That’s another positive so we’ll take that too,” the Richard Childress Racing driver added.
Daytona’s shift to the second-last race of the regular season saw Darlington become the host of the last race before the playoffs. As a result, the Atlanta Motor Speedway will host the first playoff race, followed by the Talladega Superspeedway.
Racing at drafting tracks like these is extremely difficult, and not many drivers are happy about it, including Joe Gibbs’s star driver.

There are a lot of things that can go wrong for any driver on a superspeedway, no matter how good they are. This will make the playoffs just that much more difficult. In a recent interview, Christopher Bell spoke about the schedule and the unpredictable nature of superspeedways and how one has to rely on luck at those tracks.
“Luck to me is what happens outside of your control. Unfortunately, that’s what happens a lot in superspeedways. But if you can control it, it’s probably not luck and if it’s out of your control, then it’s luck, in my opinion,” Bell said.
